Kakko like Lafreniere was butchered development wise by vet, dong sucking coaches. That being said in much rather have a winger in the mold of Cuylle or Othmann than him.

Acquire as many picks as possible and try and move up for an extra 1st at the draft. Start drafting C.

Return sucks right now but Borgen is the type of physical d-men that usually commands a good return at the trade deadline. I would be shocked if he isn't moved at the deadline.

At worst maybe they re-sign him fairly cheaply if he works out.

dont follow Seattle but wonder how willing they would be to part with Wright. We need some serious help at C.

I'm not sure they'd be willing to move him even though he hasn't really emerged yet. He probably will become a regular next year I'd think.

I think a lot of things are true here:

    1. Drury is awful at his job, that isn't changing, he is who he is. I have zero faith he can reboot the Rangers the right way, and quickly for next season.

    2. The Rangers sold low on Kakko, but after the scratch the other night, and the comments that followed, it was inevitable he was getting traded quickly.

    3. While the return was low, it is about right given what Kakko has actually accomplished. Despite what some think, he was given chances, and never stepped up, that's just the truth. He seems like a solid 3rd line forward who can score 15 goals and maybe 35-40 points. There is value in that for sure, but not to the level of the # 2 pick, and thus he'd always be weighed down by and never meet expectations here. He needed a change of scenery to allow him to be that solid 3rd liner without # 2 pick expectations.

    4. At least they got two picks back, and since Borgen is a UFA after this season, I fully expect he'll get dealt for at least one more pick. So, they essentially turned Kakko into 3 picks, which this team needs to reboot for next season and beyond as this season is 100% over.

Borgen has played 2 full 82 game seasons for the Kraken. Cant be that bad. 3 rounder ok, 6th rounder? Why bother...............

If you are planning for next season, why trade now? Why not feature Kaako one more time until the TDL and see if he can do anything? Get some goals, trade for more? 2nd overall. Why not, compared to Will Borgan? Kaako, Cullye, Chytil are the future. Season is over. Let the kids play. Its almost like Lav is forced to play vets. Sit the untradeables, bring up Hartford. Its not like Season Tickets are going to drop..........

You can always throw a 6th rounder into a trade to get it over the finish line. 3rd+6th essentially equates to a 2nd value-wise, at least by NFL draft standards.

I don't think it really mattered when you traded Kakko. Waiting 10 more weeks, you think his trade value would skyrocket after 6 mediocre years? Seems highly doubtful to me. In addition to that, after the past few days with the scratching and the comments by Kakko, which were not out of bounds BTW, it became a semi-untenable situation. Plus, Drury is terrible at his job and in over his head, I don't think 10 weeks would have changed how Drury would maximize his return.

If they held and waited, I would have been fine, if they dealt him now for maybe 3 picks once they deal Borgen at the trade DL, that is fine. I really don't see this very different landscape in 10 weeks, and I don't see Kakko going off here during that time either. I could certainly be wrong in my thinking, but that's where my head goes. Now that the trade is done, it's an unanswerable question though.

Drury finally flushed that floater Krappo,(Merry Christmas to me!) no team wanted him when he was up for his last renewal, any team could have thrown him a $4 mil deal and the Rangers wouldn't have matched but that didn't happen. No top tier team wants a half assed effort giver like Krappo, he's a clubhouse cancer that can be Seattle's problem, maybe he'll find his heart there. The previous GM Gorton was exponentially worse than Drury and he was a guy with experience who did far more long term damage to the team.

One of the only things we have to look forward to is Othmann getting up here.

Looks like he’s playing in a line with Beniers and McCann, who are getting almost 18min a game this season.

will be interesting to see if they give Kakko top-6 minutes and PP time.

Eh, he had been with the team not even 24hrs, but did read an article where the Kraken GM says he will be used as a top 6 forward (making sense he was playing with Beniers and McCann) and on the PP.

With almost 50gms to go, if they give him that much ice time the rest of the season it will be a good test to see what he can do.

I hope Kakko does well in Seattle. If he does though it doesn't necessarily mean he would have done well here regardless of circumstances, sometimes a change of scenery is needed for a player to reach their potential. Plus getting out of NY and away from the # 2 pick expectations could be good for him. Hopefully Kakko is better for the move.

Not sure he has the mental makeup to recover from his Rangers time. We shall see. What I do know is despite morons like Zibanejad playing no defense, our defenseman this year other than Schneider have sucked moose dick. The stay at home, take care of your own net first philosophy has been lost with our defenseman group. Fox, Miller and Jones all care about trying to generate offense first and foremost. Trouba just wasn't trying. Lindgren I cut some slack because of his injury. Honestly, Lindgren should be put with Borgen and told, just keep the puck out of our net.
