If I were a billionaire I'd have somebody to help me put them on two legs at a time.

It's tough to take people seriously when they tell lies like these.

Elon Musk has said many times that his timelines are almost impossibly aggressive in order to make things happen faster than they would otherwise.

He didn't promise any of those things. He said those were his goals. And while he hasn't hit those goals he has been first or among the leaders in several of those goals.

But this guy claiming they were "promises" makes me not trust anything else he says.

This is a big reason Democrats lose. They engage in this same BS and the people they need to attract are smarter than that. Those ignorant idiots have already bought in to the right wing bullshit.

You would be removed from the board of your company.

That would cause inflation. And no one likes inflation.

Better to cut their wages. They'll thank you when day-old bread is a few pennies cheaper.

Nobody should outright own the ability for others to make a living. If you are making a living you should be invested in that. Fair shares for everyone! You should be able to live off of working as hard as you're able to work. If the stuff you're making is making some random guy really fucking rich, you're not getting paid enough, and that random guy is just stealing your work!

Sly, when's the last time you ponied up a small raise for your hard-working moderators? Never? That's what I thought.

After years of lying predictions, someone this year got him to admit that once, not many times. He's not trying to motivate his puppet fans, since they don't work for him. His fans take his word religiously, he knows it, and laughs at them.

They are "predictions," not "goals" or "promises," but he states them with certainty, and is wrong every single time. I have read several hundred over the years. Besides false predictions, another tiresome lie is to call every failure a success...with his boorish fans then echoing him and coming down hard on any realist.

I posted on S2 only once before, years ago, that I spend as much time on the NSF board as S2.

No, not just this year. I've heard him say that multiple times. The first time being at least a decade ago.

It's not for fans, it is the stated goal of that company. They do everything possible to meet that goal until it is impossible to do. Then they reevaluate and set another very difficult to meet deadline.

I specifically remember listening to a podcast or show when he very clearly explained this at least a decade ago.

So I have never taken his deadlines or goals or whatever as promises. So I've never been upset when they miss. But they were the first ones to have a low earth orbit satellite constellation that can do what starlink can do. They were the first ones to have reusable rockets. They were the first ones to make electric cars that actually challenged the big automakers.

I don't care if he started these companies. I don't care if he's actually a genius. All I care about is that this progress is being made when I don't believe it would have been made nearly as quickly if he hadn't put his efforts toward those things.

If he's breaking laws to do that then he should definitely be punished.

But he explained that these seemingly impossible deadlines are part of the strategy to get those kinds of things done as quickly as possible a long time ago. It is in line with the "go fast and break things" philosophy of technology companies.

Not according to his puppet followers, who include many engineers on that learned board. The rare dissenter who hints at anything negative about his BS predictions is aggressively handled by board management. And not according to reporters. The news media prints all of his fake predictions verbatim, with no caveats given.

I'm just telling you what he's said publicly for over a decade.

I don't know anything about what engineers work where or if any of those people are confirmed.

What he has said publicly lines up pretty well with what has happened (as far as missing deadlines). And calling these "promises" based on what he's actually said publicly isn't at all accurate.

Fuck this man he's single-handedly ruining our lives. And that shit in the article IS NOT GOOD! IT IS NOT SAFE AND IT IS NOT HEALTHY! Fuck this man, fuck his methods, fuck the results, and fuck anyone who thinks he "had some good ideas".

I didn't say it was good. Only that he hasn't been making promises. He has been setting extremely hard to meet goals and trying to meet them. And he's been very public about those goals.

Being dishonest about that doesn't solve anything. It in fact hurts the ultimate goal of improving things, IMO.

When we are dishonest about the facts we give him more power by costing ourselves the respect of people who would otherwise support us.

See the election. People check out and then Trump wins.
