I don't get to watch many Blazer games so maybe some of you guys who see a lot of them can help me out. Why has a second round draft pick been given so much respect by Billups? I'm not knocking him, it just surprises me. I like that he plays hard on defense and unlike the rest of the team is not made of glass. But the production doesn't blow me away. Again, how does a second rounder get the key to the city?
What he does out there doesn’t necessarily show up in the stat sheet. Coaches LOVE and NEED this if you want to succeed. All successful teams have players you don’t have to run a play for, yet help them win.
He's a tone-setter. He plays balls-to-the-wall 100% of the time and has a bit of a temper to him. If you ever played pickup with someone like that you'll know that they make everybody take it a lot more seriously.
He's a top 10 perimeter defender in the league, period. His pay and his draft status is completely irrelevant. Now, he's starting to hit 3s. This makes him one of the top 3 and d wings in the league.
Because he is one of the best perimeter defenders in the league? If we had one of the best perimeter offensive players in the league, they’d get love also
Jabari Walker was Toumani before Toumani was, and maybe it's time Jabari got some more minutes (just not at center like Billups tried him at a couple of games ago).
I love Jabari. But where would you play him? His biggest problem is defense: lack of lateral speed and inability to change direction quickly.
I agree. I like him too, and love his relentless hustle as a rebounder. But he is limited to guarding PFs. A solid bench player in case of injuries. Camara on the other hand has shown that he can switch off and guard multiple positions. And as long as he can continue to shoot the 3 ball well enough to spread the floor I am fine with him starting. He just needs to be the 5th option on offense.
He puts in the work, stays humble, defensive savant. Blazers suck, their vets do at least… makes decent sense that he gets PT
No Walker never defended like Toumani nor shoot the 3 like he does. Walker defends centers better than wings, he doesn't have the foot speed to do half of what Toumani can. Their two of the most dissimilar Blazers until you start comparing PG to C.
The only thing he does well is rebound. I wanted him cut off the roster in preseason. I would however start him over Ayton.
Walker is good at scoring close to the basket. He has fakes and doesn't nervously miss like, say, Nurkic or Plumlee. He may be my favorite current Blazer (who must be an underdog; I never pick a star).
made me curious, so, some 'big' men and their career FG% at rim (0-3' @bbref) Timelord .809 Ayton .765 (padded by his time with CP3) Whiteside .740 Plumlee .715 Rasheed .682 Robin Lopez .666 Nurkic .615 Brian Grant .610 Sabonis .609 Camby .606 Kaman .593 Jarett Allen .750 Shaq .745 AD .745 Gobert .744 Embiid .742 Adebayo .728 Sabonis .718 Jokic .717 Myles Turner .717 KAT .706 Capela .699 Zubac .693 Hartenstein .691 Jaren Jackson .677 obviously, this is an incomplete picture. It's one thing to shoot a high percentage; it's a different thing to shoot a high percentage AND have a high FT rate career FT rates: Plumlee .588 Whiteside .385 Nurkic .383 Timelord .273 R. Lopez .270 Ayton .191 Gobert .706 Shaq .578 Embiid .551 Adebayo .423 AD .411 D. Sabonis .373 Jokic .316 and yeah, that rate needs to be gauged by percentage of shots taken at the rim, average shot distance, assisted FG rate, conversion rate on FT's....no thanks
Walker needs to play angry and get mean down low. Use his size and dunk over anyone and/or make them pay for trying to stop him. I don’t understand being that big and playing small. The entire team needs to be on a steady diet of Barkley highlights. The guy is 6’4 and would destroy any in his path except Shaq.
