    Plausible? Maybe not. Anyways...

Denver "downgrades" MPJ to Grant, but in doing so, get someone much more adept at getting their own shots when Jokic is out. Also a much better defender. They also add a great backup C who could likely play some alongside Jokic, and a rotation level wing who could provide plus D, something Strawther doesn't yet do for them.
Detroit gets a big upgrade from Harris to MPJ, adds a great shooter alongside Cade. They give up a recent 2nd round prospect for it.
We shave 2 years off of Grant's deal with Tobias. Take on 2 younger guys to take a look at in Strawther and Klintman, and add a pick.

I think Jabari Walker would have been better for sure

Injuries piling up right now, I wonder if that opens some trade windows for teams fighting for positioning. Ivey, Nance, Rocket’s Smith, Wagner…

We should trade for Jimmy Butler!

Hear me out: Golden State, Phoenix, Houston have all said they don't want him. But Miami basically have to trade him now. We offer some package of Ant/Jerami/Ayton (hey, if Spoelstra can get Hassan Whiteside looking like an all-star, imagine what he could do with Ayton?) right now, with the promise that, if he plays his ass off, we'll try our damnedest to move him by the trade deadline. Worst case scenario we get an immediate intensity boost by having him in the locker room.

Why do this? Because the Heat are more likely to see value in our players than just about any other team simply because they believe that "heat culture" can transform any players, and our players definitely have more innate talent than the castoffs the Heat normally have to work on, and then if we have Butler there are probably more teams that will come around to wanting him than there would be interested in our guys. (Imagine if OKC got interested, with all their picks.)

(Of course, the flaw in my reasoning is that the Heat could just hold out and get the deal that we hope to get, but they run the risk of being stuck with Butler past the deadline, and given how stubborn both he and Pat Riley are, that's not a good recipe.)

We are in the middle of a rebuild. Why on earth would we make a trade for a 35 year old superstar making almost 49M this season and 52M next season. We are not a Jimmy Buttler away from contention.

Maybe we can be a third team that can capitalize off of this upcoming deal. We have the ability to take unwanted contracts right now as long as they aren't guys who need playing time... and hopefully we could get a pick or prospect out of it.

There are contenders who will pay a bunch right now for that dude. He's worth a lot more than the return a salary dump would get Miami. We alos don't need to shed salary. We're at a place where we can take on bad contracts to build up our stockpile of picks or get more prospects.

EVERYONE'S a Jimmy Butler away from contention if he decides to go all out. He has the most sheer force of will since Jordan.

How good is a team with

    Deni
    Sharpe
    Butler
    Camara
    Ayton

    With off the bench:
    Scoot
    Clingan
    Thybulle
    RWIII

Good enough to make the playoffs until Butler is too old and then be a play-in to 2nd round team until tearing it down again.

Almost certainly not good enough to ever compete for a title.

Yeah, it would be a completely pointless acquisition at this point in our process.

This is preposterous because Jordan is 6-0 in the Finals while Jimmy is 0-2 with the Heat and I would argue that Jimmy had a better supporting cast.

I'm not agreeing that Butler had a better supporting cast. Pippen-Grant-Rodman is pretty damn unique

however, talking about Butler have the best force of will since Jordan ignores Kobe-Shaq-Duncan-Lebron-Curry

What if we could get Butler to promise to opt out this summer? We could trade Grant and Thybulle to the Heat. We would be taking in $8 million more than we sent out but would clear a lot of long term salary.

If we can get a FRP and a prospect I'd be for it.
