That last sentence, at least, is likely true.

And someday our great-grandkids will finally rebel and tear them all down.

Barfo probably already has great-grandkids, so I don't think he's predicting a significant duration.

I want them to finish college before they start getting into trouble.

Tevye, fantasizing If I Was A Rich Man, imagines the most important men in town coming to him for advice, adding "it won't make one bit of difference if I answer right or wrong. When you're rich they think you really know". That was comedy.

Paul Krugman writes about the willful ignorance of the rich. Trump, who is stupid, has access to best intelligence in the world but doesn't read anything, saying he just knows. President Musk can buy world's best experts but doesn't trust expertise, preferring to rely on social media posts. He has already shown profound ignorance. And no one can tell them they don't really know because they won't hear it. Policy based on willful ignorance.

In 1964 Lyndon Johnson said if you can convince the lowest white man he is better than the Negro, he will vote for things that hurt him as long as they hurt the Negroes more. The language is archaic but the meaning is still true.

I've just figured out the master plan.

Trump will make America great like never before. He will add Greenland and Canada as states. Then Mexico.

Then the US will have 53 states. Which is a prime number.

Then the US will truly be one nation, indivisible...

He has to make sure the three states elect Republican senators.

Rachel Maddow always warned look at what they do, not what they say. While attention is distracted by blather about annexing Greenland and changing name of Gulf of Mexico, which won't happen, what they will do, make 2017 tax cuts for the rich permanent, pass another $4 trillion tax cuts for the rich, allocate $100 billion for mass deportation, add trillions to debt and pay for it by cutting social security and Medicare. Also change rules for provisioning; federal government buys all kinds of things big and small from private business. Civil servants expected to steer contracts to business owned by President Musk or large donors and if they think Brand Other is better deal, well, one tweet can unleash death threats against anyone. And a mob that has used violent assault has been pardoned and granted hero status.

Republicans released budget proposal. They want to pass using reconciliation, which requires only 50 votes, so it has to be fiscally neutral. To cover cost of $4 trillion tax cuts for the rich and mass deportation, they cut billions from Medicaid, ACA subsidies and SNAP. They will end all Biden climate initiatives, including tax breaks and subsidies for renewables, effectively killing home solar industry. Also shut down infrastructure projects, costing thousands of jobs.

As millions of Americans go hungry and get sicker, as shortages cause prices to skyrocket and unemployment soars, we can be comforted knowing they prevent a transgender congresswoman from using the ladies' room.
