Just posted this in the Miami game thread -

I know this a sensitive subject. Trying not to draw any conclusions. Just looking at trends -

    upload_2025-1-12_5-5-5.png

Last year, 15% of Scoot's games were 'good', 32% were 'bad'.
This year, 13% of Scoot's games have been 'good', and 37% have been 'bad'.

Do the Blazers need to play him more and get him more game time experience? Does coaching drive a big part of this lack of progress?

Early in the Miami game Scoot drove to the left and had an opportunity for the left-handed layup but opted for the difficult up and under using his right hand and missing the shot. How does a player make it into the NBA, and be a second-year player, and still be so right hand dominant? Is this on the player, the coaching staff, or both?

At the end of a season when we'd been tanking for many weeks, the coach felt sorry for the crappy rookie #3 pick and played him, so he'd be better the next season. As we now see, it didn't work. That's all ya got?

For many underachieving rookies, the assistant coach would work with him during the summer at the Blazers practice facility. But Scooter didn't show up. When I noted this here last Fall, his defenders said that Scooter has a court at his home, where he worked out.

I said 1) That's his story...how do you know he worked out often and hard? 2) That's with no supervision...no boot camp-like coach yelling at him to work out daily not weekly, wake up early like 6am, do more reps after he thinks he can't, get more sweaty, etc. 3) Did a coach, even if not visiting Scooter's home, design a written daily step-by-step program for him (20 reps doing X, 50 reps doing Y, etc.), or did he just horse around on the court when he felt playful?

So I used the word "lazy" and all hell broke loose. That pissed off about 5 posters. Good, maybe they'll wake up.

    Two things can be true.

    1. He's not being developed correctly.
    2. He's not playing good enough.

We used the #3 pick on him. We owe it to the franchise to give him the runway. I say that knowing full well he may never be as good as Ant. We made the decision and now we must see it through. There's no choice.

If I was Chauncey, I'd be chastising him for avoiding shots like Ben Simmons. The only way he becomes a positive is if he's aggressive.

You have to see the investment through regardless. There's no way around it.

I think they'd rather roll the dice on developing him. He's still very young and he's shown flashes.

Could be. It's too soon to know.

Gotta give him runway so we can find out sooner rather than later.

Just ignore this clown, he will keep doing this when Scoot has a bad game and stay quiet when he does, Classic troll that should be ignored

Agreed. We're not thru year 2 yet, and he's only 20 years old. He has time to turn this around.

We're all Blazer fans here, so I think I can safely say everyone is rooting for this kid.

I said this a long time ago and I still think it's true. They have coached him to slow down to avoid mistakes. And he has cut down on turnovers but he is having no positive effect on team success. He needs to be coached to limit mistakes even when going full speed.

Chauncey is a shitty Xs and Os guy, but I would hope a HOF point guard could help develop Scoot.

Won’t judge him until he’s Dame’s age when he was a rookie. Just a bar I set for myself with him when we drafted him. I believe if he was getting constant minutes not behind Ant, he would be learning and growing faster. Just my opinion.

It would be *nice* if Scoot was kicking ass and taking names. It would make us feel better but it is more important to draft a true superstar caliber player. MVP type.

From what I've seen of Scoot I completely agree with this
