I'm encouraged that Sharpe's offense seem to be more consistently good this year. He is still really only in his second season in the pros and had no college. Will just keep getting better and making less mistakes.

 

I think it's an acknowledgement by the coaching staff and/or front office that he's not as good early on as hoped for, and that force feeding him minutes isn't speeding up the development.

Same here. He's showing true 3-level scoring ability, and now that he's consistently more engaged, that will allow him to remain productive when the shot isn't falling from any particular area. I'm always fearful of his next freak injury, but he's been looking pretty durable of late.

 

Above average, but nothing special. I’m not sure what that has to do with some combo of the Herro/Robinson/Lowry 2 firsts offer

 

Herro is arguably a better player at this point in their careers. Also 9 years younger.

The Heat deal was probably a better trade from a talent perspective than the 3 way trade with the Suns.

The Blazers never had all of those guys last year while they have been nearly all playing this season.

Last year Simons was hurt game 1, Sharpe missed the last 50 games, and Brogdon was in and out of the lineup before being shut down for good. Also Scoot was gifted a big minute starting role at game1 until he completely flopped and was injured after 5 games - eventually missing 20 over the year himself.

Simons 46 games
Sharpe 32 games
Brogdon 39 games

Thats 179 games in total which is 2.18 players average of 82. That means two starters with hardly any minutes given to a backup. So there were plenty of minutes available last year with those 4 guys.

 

sure...but it's not like the guys who can play guard this season have all been iron men. Banton and Grant have missed 9 games; Sharpe has missed 8; Simons 3. Last season Scoot averaged 27.2 minutes over the first 3 months (and he missed games because of injury too)

more than that though is that Scoot piled up minutes last season. Scoot averaged 32 minutes over the last 19 games of the season; and 36 minutes over the last 7 games. If the Blazers pull the plug and start finding creative injuries again, super-charging a tank job, Scoot will likely up his average minutes
