For a few GREAT years, just like Bill Walton. Roy is one of our top 4. Chronologically, Walton, Drexler, Roy, Lillard.
B Roy era turned around the Jail Blazers. He was a real leader. Argued with ZBo as a rookie. "This is my team now." Too bad his health did not cooperate
0 playoff series victories. He's still a top Blazer, I think he was even better than Lillard in many ways, but the only two Blazers that really deserve to have their number retired are Walton and Clyde.
https://stathead.com/basketball/ver...layer_id3=portete01&p3yrfrom=1988&p3yrto=1992 5 year spans for all.
No .... just no ... I get it, he took them out of the JailBlazer era but he didn't play nearly long enough and at a high enough level to have his jersey in the rafters. There are already too many up there to begin with!
BRoy doesn't deserve to have his number retired for winning ROTY and getting ZBo traded. Even if he wasn't a dick to Andre Miller I still wouldn't retire his number.
Maybe instead of retiring the number there could be a 'hospital' somewhere in the Moda where jerseys of all the woulda-been shoulda-been guys like Bowie, Oden, Roy could hang. Edit: or better yet, the jerseys would lie on stretchers and operating tables. barfo
Teams retire numbers when the team is having trouble selling out the building. Portland might have to retire 41 numbers next year.
