Simple question. CJ or Ant? To me it's CJ because we needed him to be more. And he just wasn't. Ant to me i felt we knew what he was. Frustrating that he couldn't be a #1 or #2 option on the team that's tanking, but not annoying.
Neither. The coaches who wouldn’t put them in the 6th man roles both should play are the ones who annoy(ed) me.
on one hand, I'd say CJ considering it was Olshey's insane man-love for CJ that was a big reason why Portland wasted Dame's prime on the other hand, I'd say Ant because he's a primary symbol of the fence-straddling and an obstacle to the rebuild damn, I can't choose
I mean they’re such similar players that it’s hard for me to say. Both got put in roles above what they are. Both are great if you take them for what they are. A bucket in spurts. But nothing you should rely on consistently. Both are worthless if that particular night their shot isn’t falling.
I think both guys have a lot of ways of scoring, so even when their outside shot isn't falling they still do have value both as scorers in those other ways and as spacers on offense because no one knows when those shots are going to start falling again but that is where the value starts and stops. They don't create a lot of shots for others on offense, they definitely aren't effective screeners which is highly undervalued, they are both complete liabilities on defense in every defensive role there is and they don't rebound on either end. Scorers and spacers, that's it but that is enough to be valuable. If the other starters are good enough defenders and one but preferably two of them are more multifaceted weapons both scoring and passing, then either CJ or Ant could be solid third option scorers on their team. Obviously if you have the luxury of putting them in their proper role of an off the bench microwave, that's where either one of them would have the most value. Either guy could be sixth man of the year on the right team but that's as much recognition as they'd ever get. The annoying thing (besides the length of this post) is that this franchise has decided to think of both of them as good back court mates for Dame... and now I have no idea what Joe sees Ant as but Joe was dumb enough to think Ant was the right guy to start next to Dame so it's anyone's guess how he sees Ant now but most likely it's with a very rosy tint.
It's not. It creates discussion. So your answer is? I understand this is to get back at me, and I laugh. But i appreciated the effort.
I always thought it would be Carmelo Anthony who would annoy me, but he turned out to be a pretty good dude in Portland. Embraced his role and never complained. So crown of most annoying goes to @jonnyboy. Only posts in the OT section, never talks about sports.
Easily CJ because the team was supposed to be competing for a title when he was here and he just didn't fit next to Dame in a starting role. Everyone could see that the duo didn't work, except for the guy that was supposed to be constructing the team. Ant is who he is, personally I view him as a little less talented CJ that should be in the 6th man, microwave offense off the bench role, but thinks he's the main guy and the reality that he lives in doesn't match up with the real world.
Yes, he did have 2 bad games. Not sure I would describe that as giving up the past weeks though. Plus CJ was traded just as before we started to intentionally tank. So he did not have to go through this bullshit.
