Probably why he’s the best GM in the league.

Backloading contracts only exacerbates the problem if a player isn’t living up to his contract. It’s especially stupid if you backload a contract for a player who is reaching their mid-30’s by the end of the contract. I suppose if you can unload that contract on a team it looks better when it comes off their books. But that seems to be less common of a trade these days. Picks seem to be at a premium more than ever.

The idea is likely the ever growing salary cap and luxury tax threshold.

It's also why I don't think Jerami's contract is punitive. He should still be playing near the hight of his game when he's 33 in the last year of this contract and it will likely be the going rate for the fourth best guy on a team trying to win a championship.

Listening to the Bill Simmons podcast while I work…Kevin O’Connor suggested a Rob Williams to Suns for Nurk + FRP (might need another PDX salary). I don’t think I can stomach Nurk again. I would do Rob for Royce O’Neale and that FRP though. Then move Royce ($10mil) this summer.

    Well, I don't think they're trash....

All three of them could be contributors on playoff teams. Grant hasn't been great so far this year, but I think he could be a legit third option on a playoff team. Simons could be great in the right situation. Williams is mostly a health risk, but when he's healthy he's a fantastic center.

Not all FRP are created equal. Dame netted picks that were unprotected.

Beal's agent says that Beal has not waived his no-trade clause at this point.
Reports that he has are untrue.

Gordon can play without the ball being in his hands. He's made for a competitive team. There are doubts that Ant can do the same. No question who is more valuable. Defense matters.

The only reason I brought up salaries is because, for some stupid ass reason, it is important to some whether he starts or comes off the bench. I personally don't give a shit since he already has his current contract for another 1.5 years. After that who knows how much he will get.

But the bottom line is if he is on the Blazers long term, he would help the team best by coming off the bench, much like he would for most teams.

I think this is basically LAL throwing the towel on the Lebron era and admitting that they got one ring with him and that's as far as it goes...

Otherwise, you basically can not trade AD when he still has high trade value.

Do you think LAL is ready to piss Lebron off and think about their future? I doubt it.

Fischer who is pretty plugged in said that the Blazers could definitely get something for Ant if they shopped him around, but they haven't done so yet. Less optimistic about Grant. Said the most likely thing happening is no deal for either and just moving Duop since any team can trade for him.

Also reiterated that Ayton has zero value, as if we didn't know already.

The red line is this deadline. They have stifled the development of Scoot Henderson already. If Ant is still here, fans should make it out to the streets asking for Joe's resignation after the deadline. Same with Grant.

Scoot and Ant should make out in the streets? Weird, but not here to kink shame.

I get not wanting to give up assets for pennies on the dollar, but he's actively hurting the rebuild because we're winning games. It doesn't make sense.
