Borgen, Fox, Schneider, Mancini and even maybe Uhro is a decent group to go forward with for the near future. Hopefully Fortescue and Emery turn out well, plus they will likely add a big FA at some point.
Solid deal to bring Borgen back. He just turned 28, so the deal ends when he's 33, not too bad. In a sign of today's NHL, he received a full NTC in year one, and a MNTC in years two through four. The R side on D now has Fox, Borgen, Schneider, and Mancini waiting in the wings. I wonder which one will play the L side. It also says to me even more clearly; they need to move on from Lindgren. Drury needs to take a serious look in the mirror and decide if this team is a legit SC winning team, and if he decides they are not, and I don't think they are, both Lindgren and Smith should be dealt unless their value is so low the return isn't worth it, which I don't see being the case, especially with Lindgren. Drury cannot make any quick fix go for broke this season moves. It's why I am a fan of adding Miller as he's signed for 5 more years, not a quick fix. I would deal Lindgren for sure as I see no way he's re-signed this summer.
Amazing the amount of morons on X bitching about the contract. He's getting top 4 minutes and unscrewed Miller. 4.1 million is not a lot for a guy like that. We haven't had a d man that could shutdown Tkachuk since he came into the league. 5 years, ehhhh. He's 28. He's just coming into his prime. A huge problem with our fan base other than having a ton of morons who don't understand hockey, is that they always look at points. The team sucked for 30 games because they couldn't play defense. Borgen has helped change that. Zibanejad is the dumbass who needs to be shown the door. Guy fucking passes on breakaways.
I agree, Lav pointed to Borgen being the difference in the Rangers turnaround, his extension makes Lindgren expendable especially with guys like Mancini waiting.
