Maybe... I'm not convinced we're in a different situation now. I'd prefer sticking with the higher odds of adding talent.

Exactly, which goes to the fact that other posters have been saying, getting “lucky” in the draft is a huge part of things, when picking in the top 3 or top 10, and even outside of the top 10 at times like Joker and Giannis.

Dame/CJ/Z-Bo, O’Neal, Sharpe, Simmons and others were all outside of the top 5 btw.

Nobody has denied any of this. We're going to have plenty of opportunities to get lucky like that.

The only obstacle I feel we have at this point is Amen Thompson. Scoot takes a jump, mf takes an entire flight

How is that an obstacle... accept maybe in games where we play the Rockets??? What the fuck does Amen doing so well have to do with how well Scoot is doing? IMO in no way does Amen's great play take away from Scoot's.

Scoot has come a long way and nothing another player does independent of Scoot changes that. I mean if Amen is guarding Scoot it may be an obstacle or an opportunity for Scoot to shine.

The biggest obstacle that we have when showcasing how good Scoot is getting is the inconsistent shooting from the rest of our team or more accurately the consistently terrible shooting. We are the 3rd worst three point shooting team in the league and we're seventh worst team in the league at overall field goal percentage. That shit hurts Scoot's assists numbers which is an obstacle for him statistically which goes along way when talking about how good Scoot is perceived to be.

Again, no player doing well overall is an obstacle to the success of our players unless they are playing us that game.

Again, Grant has one of the worst contracts in the league... it's a long term financial anchor. At no point since he signed it, has he been tradable for anything other then similar overpriced mediocrity. I strongly suspect if Joe wanted to trade him for an expiring contract he'd have to include substantial draft capitol like a future 1st. Is that the sort of trade you'd have been down with?

I don't care about an expirating. We can bring back a similarly mediocre player or a worse player with a similarly bad contract. Or even just sit his ass for the season.

No. I'm on record as not being on board with pretty much any move in which we give up more draft capital than we get back.

I love everything about Deni, and I'm still not sure I like that trade.

    Which player would you take:

Player A - 21 points off 7-15 shooting, 0-0 from three, 7-9 from the free throw line, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 blocks, 1 steal

Player B - 23 points off 7-16 shooting, 3-5 from three, 6-6 from the free throw line, 7 assists, 5 rebounds, 2 steals

One game. Both players played tonight. One of them won, the other made a critical mistake that cost them the game.

I should say one of the key mistakes that cost them the game but if he makes the wide open layup they probably win. I misread how late in the game it was. There was still a couple minutes left.

Scoot up to 36.4% from 3. League average is 35.9% (per basketball-reference).

By definition, he is an above average 3 point shooter. This combined with his speed makes him very dangerous... and lately we're seeing it.

His Ast/TO is up to 1.9, and climbing. I'm hopeful he can get it above 2 by season's end.

At this point, I don't think Grant impacts the tank much as the other forwards who play are as good or better. I also think he is and has been basically untradable for Joe as any available move will highlight the mistake of signing JG to a massive contract in the first place. I'll be surprised if he's moved before a couple seasons from now when he's an expiring as thats when he'll pick up some positive value as a trade chip

I do think they can probably find a taker for Ant as the contract vs talent ratio isn't nearly as outrageously out of whack and it only runs a year past this. If such a move didn't return backcourt help, Portland would be very thin at guard... thats probably the 2025 tank's greatest hope

At this point I just think we played them too much early. We beat too many teams we probably would have lost to.

Happy to see our young guys playing well though. Just wish it would have been managed better.

Yeah, what's up with Grant? He's in a serious slump. Mind you, so were Dame and CJ when forced to play the Chauncey way.

The only glimmer of hope I see for trading Grant is that he's pretty beloved around the league. Dame loves him. Jokic loves him. He was popular in Detroit.
