So, the Trump administration is going to impose the same 25% tariff on Canada as Mexico. One of his main babbling points is the amount of fentanyl that comes into the US across our borders with these countries. From a NYT article on the subject: "Last year, U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents intercepted about 19 kilograms of fentanyl at the northern border, compared with almost 9,600 kilograms at the border with Mexico, where cartels mass-produce the drug. Financially, it doesn’t make sense for Canadian criminal groups to focus on exporting fentanyl south, said Daniel Anson, the director of intelligence and investigations at the Canada Border Services Agency. “Mexican fentanyl, due to the cost and the street price, is very difficult to compete with in the U.S.,” he said." Canada has said they could just as easily turn of the hydroelectric power they sell to our Northern States, specifically in the Northeastern states. Trump taxes them and New England goes dark in the middle of winter....this administration is walking around with a "kick me" sign on it's ass.
When you don't have the best standards in hiring you get Trump, Vance, Hegseth, Duffy, Kennedy Jr, and others whose qualifications are being white men subservient to Trump.
Is it weird that I want things to go to shit and get REALLY bad? Like everything. Maybe that would be the wake up call? Or is there no waking up from this.
There is a habit in this country of progress followed by the attempted thwarting of that progress, then progress, followed by the attempted thwarting of that progress and so forth. Trump and his followers get their moment. He will do a bunch of terrible shit that hurts this country really bad and then someone else will come along to clean up the mess. Then after awhile someone else will fuck it up only for someone to follow behind them and clean up the mess.
Not sure if this has been pointed out on here but literally everything that they have been doing has been aligned with the Project 2025 shit. There was a part of me when that stuff was being discussed that was like meh it’s just fear mongering. But in such a short amount of time he’s at least attempted to implement quite a few pieces of that ‘manifesto’
