I'm sure they regret the trade overall. Nurk isn't even playing for them anymore. Massive fleece now.

Not to mention they play in the same conference and just lost to the Blazers twice , moving up the Blazers to 4.5 games behind them, and tying the Suns for the 10 seed with Golden State.

Who is Washington trying to build around? Sarr and Carrington? I would think they’re wide open for business.

How would you like to be Cooper Flagg walking into that situation? That team could win the lotto and get Flagg and pick in the top three next year and still be years from being close to .500.

That's why I think some people getting so upset about playing well and winning games when we're still going to be in the lottery is such a weird flex. If we weren't getting better, it would mean we don't have the talent on the roster for adding Flagg to make a difference.

The key is the types of players the Blazers are winning with. If the Blazers are winning because its young players that could contribute even more in ~5 years then your totally right and wins are more valuable than losses because the young talent on our team is becoming more valuable than the loss of that value from a lower lottery pick.

Now if you have overpaid mediocre vets like Ayton/Ant/Grant that couldn't be a key component of a contender here in ~5 years thats where their contributions to wins today is counterproductive. It just leaving the franchise in purgatory for longer. The Bulls are the type of team that has done this worthless roster building the last decade.

I wish there would be a reporter following the Blazers. Highkin is nice but his ties with the organization probably don't help him to ask difficult questions. Richman is good at what he does (i like him a lot) but it's not what he does. And Casey Holdhal is paid by the Blazers... i have a subscription to The Athletic but it's useless. Once in a while there is a 10'000 caracters written by Quick on a player but that is not enough. I will cancel my subscription.

The media following our team are disapointing.

Richman needs a cohost. Casey was a good duo with Freeman - he needs an independent cohost.

Yeah for a time I found Marang to be entertaining. But he turned into a Cronin apologist who defends every move the guy does and legit claims he has never lost a single trade. Also a bit too full of himself and trying to prop up his access/sources/etc.

The BlazerSurprise guys on youtube are decent to listen to. I'd prefer they had their show on spotify, were a tad more polished/professional, and condensed their show to 60ish minutes. I enjoy their passion as fans while still being logical with most of their assessments.

There is certainly an opportunity for some better reporting. Maybe we'll get some more when the Blazers become a playoff team again. I can't imagine there are much financial opportunities to report on a team tanking in a small market.

    Not really.

That's the key of the narrative you choose to consume.

Scoot's gotten better. We don't know that Scoot would have gotten better playing 42 minutes per night with little guidance.

We don't know why Sharpe's minutes have been curtailed. We know parts of that story and we presume other parts, but we don't know. But he's the second-leading scorer playing and learning on a team that's won 8 of 9.

I keep reading about how we needed to be on the same timeline when Dame was here. Now I'm reading about how the timeline where they youngest guy is 20 and the second-to-oldest guy is 26 is still off the timeline.

"The key is the types of players the players are winning with ...." Funny. Most people want to win. I think the key is winning, not how we do it. We aren't getting out of the lottery, so I like winning and progress, because it means Scoot, Shae, Tou, Deni, DA, Ant, Timelord, etc. ... all players who "fit the timeline" are getting it. We're beating teams. We're beating good teams with good players.

And now you guys are crying about the manner.

My problem with your philosophy is you want to lose and lose big in perpetuity in hopes of landing that big fish while ignoring that would mean we'd have to be failing to draft the players who are meant to get us out of the cellar in the first place.

I guess it's just that some people here either like to overthink, be miserable or just have to feel they know more about what's going on than everyone else, including the people that do it, but it gets harder to come here everyday and read about how bad it is if we win or if we lose.

I forgot about Marang. He is too loud. I guess he has some good connections but he is trying too hard to make it known. Don't dislike him but it's my last source of information.

As a reporter myself in a very small market (French speaking Switzerland which means 1.2 million people) and on a niche (ice hockey), I can tell you it's difficult. But the Blazers' niche is world wide. I am sure there could be something better than what we have.

At this point, we have seen that Sharpe Scoot Camara Deni can be contributing players to a championship team. Why not lose intentionally to get high value asset in the draft to add to the core of solid young guys?

I don't need to finish the whole bowl to know if the soup is good

Its funny because your doing the exact same thing your criticizing others for.

I've always maintained theres plenty of ways for any fan to root for the team, and none are more right or wrong than the others.

Some fans want to root for every win today no matter the long term cost. Some fans want to root for losses today and build as much younger talent as possible for the future. Some want a blend of both.

Its all just different opinions and preferences. You have yours and others have theirs. Nobody is right or wrong - nor a better fan than anybody else.

But go ahead and continue to "feel you know more" than others, just as your complaining they do to you.

Then the soup gets cold and eventually spoils.

I don't think we can say those guys can be contributing players to championship teams. I think those guys have shown they can be good players that might be parts of championship type teams. And I have no idea what you're talking about not adding to the core of the solid young guys, because we're still going to be in the lottery. We're still going to add to the core.

People are acting like drafting outside the top three means we'll just get garbage, which I posted about a week ago how many great players get picked every year beneath where the Blazers are likely to pick even if the lottery is chalk.

If you want to teach guys to lose, though, and then to draft the next Zion, I guess that's fine. Not the way I'd do it. Philly tried this and here they are, still stuck as a play-in team more than a decade later.

Some people keep looking at the shiny thing they think they want missing the value in what they already have, but OK, whatever.
