This is a great point but allow me not to get my hopes up and be pleasantly surprised with any solid moves we make between now and Thursday morning.

it doesn't really matter who the reporter is

I'll be surprised if Cronin makes any move with a rotation player...or an injured one

the winning streak couldn't have come at a worse time

or he doesn’t want to trade him so ask an ungodly amount and if someone’s willing to pay it then you make the trade. My guess is he’d settle for FRP lottery protected

    Saying this for years
I think it's semantics, isn't it? One is talking about the team's core. The other is talking about core players.

What I interpret you as saying is core players are the players you are building around. What I'm saying is the core of the team as the players who are basically who forms the general framework of the team and the identity of who you want to be.

I'm not sure if anyone really cares about my definition or yours for these things. I don't think it's mutually exclusive and, like you said, it's more about our personal ideas.

No. Always ask high. This is negotiations.

It just depends on what the negotiation is and how much higher than what's reasonable you make your ask.

Miami supposedly low balled us and tried to strong arm us into giving them Dame, following your logic that was a good way to instigate negotiations. Joe wouldn't answer their calls after the initial offer is what has been reported. So yeah you need to leave room for negotiation if you are the one who is making the initial offer but if it's too outlandish, the other party may choose to not engage in further negotiations.

I don't think a FRP for Rob is too much... where the Lakers are considered the only FRP they can offer can't have protections and a contingency, so for them if the pick is protected and lands in the area of protection we will have traded Rob for nothing and they may have won another championship having gained the player who put them over the top for nothing.

It's complicated stuff. I hope Joe gets us the best deals and I hope he gets some deals done.

don't know what it is. You're assuming that's the first ask. Maybe it's the last of several

I mean you're the one saying he was insane for asking it without knowing the context.

as I said, if it's true, an unprotected 1st for a player who has played 23 games over the last 132. That's plenty of context

I wonder if Philly is just going to mail in the Embiid era and try to get out from George contract. I could see George going to the Warriors.

I guess Beal would go to Philly or Miami along with draft capital. Then Golden States parts to the other franchise.

Dallas just lost by 40 points, I could easily see them struggling. Its very hard to effectively integrate multiple starters in the middle of the season.

Sacramento I expect to get worse, LaVine is fools gold. Warriors have been really bad all year since that red hot 12 game start.

Of course there's always injuries too - which would open up potentially more spots.

Not saying the Blazers are for sure passing these teams - but very possible a couple of them finish poorly this season.

We'd gain it in future seasons as well as we'd fully unlock and guarantee the 2028 swap with Milwaukee.

I'd much rather have a top lottery pick in this year draft. But if were only getting a pick at the very end of the lottery I'm fine just making the playoffs and getting the above instead.

I dont understand these GMs still trying to build superteams with guys that are WAY over the hill. WTF you want Beal, Butler etc? Havent they learned anything from the best teams?
