<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>For Jets, backup RB planThe Jets are exploring the running-back market, according to sources, an indication the club might not think Curtis Martin will be ready for the opener, if at all.Martin, on the physically-unable-to-perform list with a lingering knee injury, hasn't been on the practice field since training camp opened. Martin, 33, has said he wants to play this season, but there are growing indications he might not fit in the Jets' plans. The organization has tremendous respect for Martin's ability to recover from injuries, and the physically-unable-to-perform designation could be its way of giving him one last chance to get healthy. At the same time, the front office is scouring the league, investigating options. Two veteran backs could end up on the trading block - Chris Brown (Titans) and Thomas Jones (Bears). Brown already has formally requested a trade, but it was denied by Tennessee management. Jones could be expendable because of Chicago's big investment in former No. 1 pick Cedric Benson.Chances are, the Jets will wait a game or two before doing anything, giving them a chance to evaluate Cedric Houston, Derrick Blaylock and rookie Leon Washington. By then, they also could have a better handle on Martin's condition.Coach Eric Mangini has refused to put a timetable on Martin, saying the NFL's fourth all-time leading rusher will practice when he's "physically able." If Martin isn't activated by the end of the preseason, the Jets can put him on the regular-season PUP list, requiring him to sit out the first six weeks.</div>http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football...5p-370938c.html

Why another RB? Leon Washington will do great! Just keep drafting linemen.

Adding a Thomas Jones for example would help to solidify the position bigtime.

I wouldn't expect Chris Brown to be interested. He wants a starting job handed to him. What a pansy.

[IMG] Anyways, I think it would be a very good move for the Jets to get another RB. Curtis Martin cant last forever so getting Brown or a Thomas Jones wouldn't be that bad. I don't think both Leon Washington or Cedric Houston can carry the load in the NFL.

How much I would love Chris Brown and Thomas Jones on the Jets is not even funny. I mean it really isn't. Houston and Blaylock are not the answers and Washignton is still just a rookie. C-Mart is getting old too.

Curtis is a beast of a man. He missed 8 career games and 4 were this past season. I just think it's time for him to hang up an amazing career. Hall of Fame adds another RB.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>==============Draft SharksChris Brown Trade BuzzAugust 5, 2006==============** Tom Rock of Newsday reports the New York Jets have "expressed interest" in Titans RB Chris Brown, who asked to be traded last week. Rock also reports the Broncos, Dolphins and Rams have also inquired about Brown. We called our Titans insider and we're told this rumor - Brown to the Jets - "has some teeth"... First, Curtis Martin (knee) is on the rack. Plus the Titans have no intention of extending Browns' contract and they feel pretty secure with RBs Travis Henry, LenDale White, and Jarrett Payton. For added drama, apparently Jets HC Eric Mangini doesn't like WR Justin McCareins. They could trade him back to Tennessee where he started -- especially since WRs Brandon Jones & Tyrone Calico have knee issues and a scrub named Bobby Wade is currently the Titans' #3 WR. We'll learn more about this Chris Brown stuff very soon.</div>JMac for Chris Brown? We'll see....

I wouldn't mind that, but then we are going to need to get recievers. I mean it would be great to see Mangini make a statement in the locker room and great to get Brown, but we NEED recievers.

He was very impressive in 2004 though when he had 1067 yards and 6 TD (Plus 147 recieveing) in 11 Games though. If he could regain that form id be very interested.Personally it makes little difference to me weather or not Justin McCareins is out there cause I dont see him as much better then Jerricho Cotchery, Tim Dwight, or Brad Smith. But we're going to have to acquire a real #2 reciever weather its by Free Agency, Trade, or the Draft come next season.

As long as it's not a 1st day pick, I don't mind. I like Houston though, I really do. I like the way he runs.

Cedric Houston reminds me of LaMont Jordan where he has supriseing speed for a guy with that size/power. Probably could be a decent runningback in the league with a good line but there's always room for an upgrade....

Not going to get T. Jones anymore. With Benson hurt, he's out of the picture. Maybe Brown though, you should've got Bennett. He's a stallion [IMG]

He started the first 15 games (sat out final game as did several starters), but he was knocked out of the game at least twice that I can think of. If he ever performed for an entire season the way he did when he was healthy in 2004, he would be one of the best backs in the league. Two or three times he ran for 100 yards in the first half before sitting out the second half nursing injuries.
