The pick swap is a 2028 swap that they already owed us, so we wouldn't have gotten that in the deal.

Also I'm pretty sure the Bucks prioritized this because of the money savings. Kuzma's contract also declines.

I think the biggest thing for Milwaukee is also the $$ savings. Kuzma makes 6 million less than Grant, roughly. Mlwaukee was about 6 million over the 2nd apron. This move alone gets them under that 2nd apron, and they are now able to aggregate salaries for any follow up deals.

What's funny is many likely would take that deal for Grant, while also saying the deal for Norm was awful awful awful. When they'd be pretty similar deals.

Don't you get it? It's a cursed franchise! That means that either they won't get Flagg, or if they do, his knees will explode literally on the stage as he comes to collect his Wizards hat. (Huh - if only they were actual Wizards hats.)

as for the Suns...remember that Finals team? well then they did this:

    upload_2025-2-5_9-40-34.png

    upload_2025-2-5_9-42-5.png

from that Finals team they gave up Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder, Chris Paul, and Landrey Shamet

PLUS a 2024 lottery protected 1st they conveyed + 2024 swap that was not conveyed
    PLUS 3 more unprotected 1st's in 25-27-29
    PLUS 4 more unprotected swaps
    PLUS 6 second round picks

all for 34 year old Durant and 30 year old injury magnet Beal with his no trade clause

it's hard to credit there wasn't somebody in their owner-management tree who said..."uhhh, maybe we should hit pause on these deals?"

even if the Suns dump everybody and tear it all down to the foundation and get terrible, they won't have their own high draft pick till 2030

There are distinct differences. Grant is truly on a horrific contract for his production. Powell turned out to be good value.

Getting nothing for Norm was unacceptable. Getting nothing for Grant rids of a bad contract while also opening PT for a more deserving youngin.

Hopefully the Bucks will be at least a lottery team when their picks can go to Portland.

Agree. Especially since we moved the unprotected 2029 pick to DC in the Deni trade.

We have to send DC the best pick among Mil/Bos/Por

The Unprotected pick is part of the middle of three picks isn't? Like the not the best pick, but the 2nd best pick goes to Washington.

We have to send DC the second best pick.

Edit: This isn't the first time that I've responded to your claim that it's the best pick in 2029 and it's not the first time I posted a link to the receipts. We still (at least for now) get the best pick and I hope you will get that now.

So it's the 2nd best pick to WAS not the best pick.

2029 Wizards: Second most favorable of POR, BOS and MIL (via BOS to POR; via MIL to POR; via POR to WAS)

    In other words,

They need to make a win now move (Butler)

Or breakup the team (Trade KD, Booker, Beal) and get picks so they can start fresh

I think we just need to stop starting Grant. Tell him he cannot handle the ball, and have him move around more off ball.

To me, I don’t even care about the contract anymore, I’m just sick of him (and often times Simons) shooting us out of games with lame selfish iso ball leading to bonehead turnovers.

To a degree it’s coaching these two we need to use them differently and feature the guys like Scoot/Shae/Deni/Toumani more. If we stop giving the vets all of the clutch moments, suddenly those contracts feel a lot less dangerous

That just hasn't been what's happened, so either it was to maintain trade value or they're going to be here and there's not really a good reason to think that Chauncey is going to change course.. at least not this season unless either we see a significant losing streak or some leaps forward from all four young guys you mentioned that leave Chauncey little choice but to alter the roles Jerami and Ant are playing.

I will say this, at the beginning of the 2023-24 season everyone was saying that Ant is our best player, that's just not the case anymore. Deni is our best player for now, followed by Tou, then Scoot, then Jerami, then Shaedon and finally Ant. If we're just talking about our best offensive player I think the order then is Deni, then Scoot, then Shaedon, then Ant... followed by Jerami and lastly Tou but Tou and Shaedon don't play like they think they're better offensive players than Deni, Scoot or really anyone else in that group of six... while Ant and Jerami constantly show that they think they are better than the other four when they aren't.

I love a lot of the things Chauncey has this team doing but allowing Ant and less often Jerami to fuck up the entire flow of the game to pound the rock while everyone clears out so they can slowly ISO is not cool. It was a precedence set when Deni, Scoot and Shaedon weren't as good as they are now and it was a bad precedent at the time because the philosophies that Chauncey vocalizes are solid but they take a big hit when implemented unevenly.
