<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>FIVE UP1. The Mets' MV3: With a 13-game lead over the rest of the division and a six-game advantage over St. Louis for the NL's best record, the Mets are in pretty good shape for the postseason. And playoff comfort in early August spawns big-picture examination. One of the sexiest questions is, Who is the Mets' (and quite possibly the National League) MVP?During the season's first few months, the choice was media darling David Wright. Between appearances on TRL and Late Show with David Letterman, the fan favorite hit everything thrown his way, especially in the clutch. Then Jose Reyes took the torch with a prolific June, when he supposedly redefined the leadoff position. But recently, no Met has been hotter than Carlos Beltran. Yup, Beltran -- last year's "horrendously overpaid" free-agent signing. In his second season with the Mets the center fielder seems to be pretty well-acclimated to the Big Apple. Beltran logged 10 homers and 32 RBIs in July, giving him the overall RBI lead in the NL.Is Beltran just the flavor of the month, or is he the final answer in this most valuable Metropolitan debate?Let's compare the season stats:David Wright's 2006 Statistics G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB K SB AVG OBP SLG 103 400 68 123 25 3 22 81 48 88 11 .308 .382 .550 Jose Reyes' 2006 Statistics G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB K SB AVG OBP SLG 100 433 88 127 20 13 10 45 37 56 44 .293 .350 .469 Carlos Beltran's 2006 Statistics G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB K SB AVG OBP SLG 95 355 83 102 25 0 33 96 61 68 14 .287 .390 .637 And just for good measure, let's take a gander at the numbers for defending NL MVP Albert Pujols:Albert Pujols' 2006 Statistics* G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB K SB AVG OBP SLG 88 323 74 103 17 1 33 87 61 30 4 ,319 .431 .684 *Pujols spent 15 games on the DL</div>

Jose Reyes is the electrifying sparkplug for the offense who leads the league in Stolen Bases (44), Triples (13), is second in the league in Runs Scored (88), and over the year has only grounded into 3 Double Plays. When he is going our entire offense is the most dangerous in the entire league IMO. David Wright is the heart and soul of the offense with .309/.383/.550 22 HR/81 RBI and solid defense and even 11 Stolen Bases but most importantly is hes been clutch with 4 walk-off hits this season. Carlos Beltran is the big bat in the middle of the offense with great numbers batting .285/.389/.631 33 HR/96 RBI with Gold Glove Caliber Defense and 14 Stolen Bases and he ranks as? Ranks 4th in NL in HR (33) ? Ranks 1st in NL in RBI (96)? Ranks 4th in NL in R (83) ? Ranks 8th in NL in BB (62)? Ranks 2nd in NL in SLG (.631) ? Ranks 2nd in NL in OPS (1.020)The easy choice is Beltran, but Id be rooting for a 3 way Co-MVP cause Reyes and Wright are also deserving. In reality, its probably all moot though cause they'll likely split votes and Pujols will win it despite the fact that the Mets are far and away the best team in the NL this season. [IMG]

If you have to choose one you gotta go with Wright, but it's a good thing when you can't really decide, just shows strength of leaders on the team, and that they have.

Carlos Beltran. He is also the NL MVP. An argument could have been made for Duaner Sanchez, but then he got into the cab accident.

While the Mets are playing the Cincinnati's come October and the Yankees are playing the Tigers you'll be wishing you played in the National League too. :beerbang2: :flipa:

I know I wish the Twins were in the N.L.! We could've had our playoff spot locked up a long time ago!
