Europe needs to put a peace keeping force in Ukraine. If pu thinks he can re-establish the Soviet Union, he wrong, imo.

I actually think if Trump allows pu to take Ukraine that works against him and elections in 26. He's much rather take credit for pu pulling out or settling.

Not sure he cares much about the 26 elections right now. They don't affect him personally, he has little use for congress at present, and he has a toddler's conception of time.

If he wants tor un for a third term I would think the 26 election would be important? And, if they lose majority in both he as lame as lame gets. On top of his current lame ass.

This is not a good trade off. As much as I hate Trump I'd rather Ukraine be able to hold out.

I think there will be an end to terrible war and Ukraine will have held out. Probably wont become part of NATO for the time being.

Once Ukraine wins they should be admitted to NATO immediately.

I support Ukraine but they are nowhere near ready to join NATO. Years away.

But NATO will need someone to fill the "U" spot in the roster when the USA drops out.

I don't care about any of that. We should let them in and tell them that if they don't comply with everything necessary they will be expelled.

I have very little doubt that they will comply.

NATO can not and will not become involved in a NATO member's inner workings and disputes. They can not take sides in a NATO member's civil war. Ukraine is not a politically stable country. It wasn't that long ago that Ukraine had a very pro Russia leader. Can you imagine if that happens again? An elected Ukrainian official giving Russia NATO classified information.

Ukraine detains top intelligence official, accuses "the rat" of working for Russia
    By Frank Andrews

    Updated on: February 12, 2025 / 11:52 AM EST / CBS News

Ukraine's primary intelligence service said Wednesday that it had detained one of its own high-level officials, accusing "the rat" of working for Russia. The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) said it had documented "14 episodes of the 'rat's' illegal activities," saying the man had headed the SBU's Anti-Terrorist Center.

Vasyl Malyuk, the head of the SBU, led the investigation and carried out the arrest himself, according to a statement from the agency, which said President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had been kept updated on the "complex" and "multi-step" operation.

"Using encrypted software bookmarks, we penetrated the traitor's gadgets — mobile terminals, computers," Malyuk was quoted as saying in the SBU's statement. "In the process of all this, we managed to qualitatively document the collection and transmission of relevant information by the traitor to the enemy."

In a photo published with the statement, Malyuk is seen holding the alleged traitor — who appears to have a bruise on his forehead — by the scruff of the neck.

We've had US Federal employees work for Russia as well (like, maybe our current President). The fact that they are getting rid of him for working for Russia leads me to believe that Ukrainian and US (and the rest of NATO) incentives are aligned.

Ukraine says it uncovered 12 agents spying for Russia on F-16s, air defences

December 17, 20246:48 AM PSTUpdated 2 months ago
Dec 17 (Reuters) - Ukraine's SBU security service said on Tuesday it had uncovered 12 agents spying for Russia to identify the locations of F-16 fighter jets and air defence systems across Ukraine.
It detained the alleged organiser and four key accomplices on suspicion of treason and sharing information about the location of Ukrainian military, according to a statement on the Telegram messaging app.
The network members worked separately to track down military airfields and air defence locations across five regions in Ukraine's south and northeast, as well as the addresses of companies working on electronic warfare.

By July 2022 651 prosecutions had been opened against prosecutorial and law enforcement officials in Ukraine,[115] with over 16,000 cases of treason being opened by Ukraine prosecutors by February 2023.[116]

Problem is that Russia can keep sending people in that need to be prosecuted...

NATO can and should still support Ukraine. NATO and Europe can help in nation-building.

I think Ukraine should ask for NATO's help in defending Chernobyl. Because if Chernobyl starts spewing radiation again that's a Europe problem. Troops around it and lots of air defense over it.

I'm not saying NATO and the US should not help Ukraine.
