<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Wizards reportedly will not match the six-year, $30 million offer sheet Jared Jeffries signed with the Knicks last week. League sources told The Washington Times and The New York Post that the Wizards will announce Monday that they will allow Jeffries to sign with the Knicks, after mulling it over for a week. The 6-foot-11, 240-pound Jeffries, selected by Washington with the 11th overall pick in the 2002 draft, has averaged 6.1 points and 4.9 rebounds in four seasons with the Wizards. He averaged 6.4 points and 4.9 rebounds in 77 games last season. Listed as a guard/forward, Jeffries played shooting guard, small forward, power forward and even center for the Wizards last year. The Knicks already have four other small forwards -- David Lee, Quentin Richardson, Jalen Rose and first-round draft pick Renaldo Balkman -- but at 6-foot-11, Jeffries provides a different look for the team."We recognize they have a right to match," Jeffries' agent Andy Miller told the New York Times when the Wizards received the offer sheet. "But hopefully, they take into consideration some of the human factors of it. In Jared's mind, he'd be better suited to playing in New York and for the Knicks."Last season, New York stumbled to a 23-59 record -- second-worst in the NBA and equaling the most losses in club history. On June 22, the team fired coach Larry Brown just one season into a five-year deal worth a reported $50 million.Isiah Thomas, who also serves as the Knicks' GM, replaced Brown. In his only other NBA coaching stint, Thomas went 131-115 in three seasons with the Indiana Pacers.</div>http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2533265

Excellent move by the Wizards. No way he's worth that much. Now they have some cap room.Instead of: PG Arenas, SG Jeffries, SF Butler, PF Jamison, C HaywoodIt should be: PG Arenas, SG Stevenson, SF Butler, PF Jamison, C Songaila (or Blatche and his 20+ppg in Summer League)

Smart move by the Wizards, that is just way too much money for him.

A defensive minded role player who can play SF and PF. Something other than the Stabury approach is nice.

It's not totally bad but Jeffries has no skill. He was overrated coming out of college and still is.Signing Jeffries is just making up for making that retarded pick of Renardo Balkman.

Anyway overpaid for the cat I mean 6 and 4 career averages dont add up to a 30 million dollar contract.

I don't really get why we added him in the first place. We're logjammed at SG, SF, and PF. Makes no sense to go out and get a 6 and 4 guy for 30 MILLION. Isiah is an idiot who keeps on adding overpaid players who dont produce to the roster. He's getting fired at the end of the season mos def. The thing that makes me even madder is that he's going to be wearing AH20's number.
