Apparently, the current working theory by a pathologist is that he suffered a heart attack and collapsed in the mud room. His wife then rushed to the bathroom to get his pills. She either had a cardiac event herself in the stress as she was opening the pills or slipped and fell, hitting her head on the heater and died herself. Hence no calls to 911. The dog stuck in its kennel died of thirst.
Damnit. Sounds like she died first (of hantavirus) and he wandered around the house for a week suffering from severe Alzheimer's before he died.
Yep. Looks like she died on the 11th and he died on the 18th. I can't imagine walking around my house for a week with my wife dead in it. That's terribly tragic.
When my mom was still alive I would talk to my parents 2-3 times a week. After she passed I talk to my dad at least once a day. I just don't get no one talking or checking on them for over 2 weeks. Hopefully Gene left his kids nothing.
His wife was his caretaker. She died and thus he had no one to take care of him and he died. Apparently, the kids hadn't been in touch in like half a year. They didn't even seem to know he had Alzheimer's.
Yup. I was talking to my mom and she said that when my grandfather was at the end she and her sister would talk to him daily. He was 97.
Unless he said something to alienate them, or disown them (etc), it is almost unconscionable to not check in on your parents on a regular basis.
