Public schools, especially those with low income families depend on federal grants to remain running. The repercussions of this will be devastating. Millions of kids without a school. Hundreds of thousands of teachers could be out of jobs.
It's a matter of when, not if, this hits rock bottom and the revolt happens. At a certain point, it's going to hit everyone in a big way, and the only people still left fighting for rock bottom to go further down will be in a commune and preparing to drink kool-aid. When, not if.
