Trading ANY assets for Zion "I don't ever fuckin play" Williamson is crazy talk. He's not a hard worker. He's overweight and always will be. Past performance is the best predictor of future performance. Calling Ant Trash is wild.
That's a false choice that no one is advocating for. Not a good debate tactic. We need to get these contracts off the books: Ant, Ayton, and Grant. Then do well in the draft. We're not built to win now.
Then throw out a name. You don’t like Zion, and that’s great, but give your opinion on a possible star we can get to add to the roster.
Do well in the draft, drafting 10th is a big ask. Certainly not impossible, but it’s hard to find Batman in the late lottery or right out of it. We just had 7, 3, 7 and couldn’t do it
Ant is awful. He’s a 7 year vet chucker who has a career PER under the league average. He’s also a shitty defender. Sharpe needs to take a major step or he’ll end up just like him
If Blazers traded for Zion, his legs would explode when he lands at PDX. This is just the law of the Blazers.
Problem is there are no other superstars on the market. It’s a huge gamble but IF he were to stay healthy he would instantly make us top 4 in the West. That said I’m guessing he wouldn’t want to be traded here and even if he did guessing there would be several teams who could make better offers. other option is stay the course and hope and pray that Sharpe, Scoot or this years pick turns into superstar. Sharpe has the tools but does he have it mentally not sure. I will say he’s really turned it up lately. If Ant is traded I think he turns it up even more. Offensively the game is so easy for him and will only get easier as he matures.
Honestly Ant would be perfect 6th man. Guy who can come in carry second unit and green light to take shots. Think of playoff game where your 1st unit is struggling to score he comes in and gets hot and carries the team till 1st unit can get going. not going to happen here but guessing that will likely be his role on another team
Fair, although Luka never really hit the market, but yes every year there are superstars at least mentioned to being available
At/after the draft we trade our 2025 pick, and can trade a '29 and '31 as well. Or '29 and '30 since we have 2 in '29.
But the 2025 is not going to be a great pick. It is essentially protected. PORs own pick is what would make the deal attractive. Hence the need to tank and make that pick stronger. That is just not a strong package for an all star.
Question for the "trade for Zion" camp. If Zion comes in to play PF, who's out in your mind? Avdija or Camara? I'm on the fence with Zion, for all of the prior stated reasons in this thread, but the upside is certainly still there. I'd move Scoot for him, personally. Can you realistically move Avdija or Camara to the bench? Or do you need to move one of those guys in another deal?
