There aren't many players that are LESS like Magic, a not-very-athletic, 6'9" bulky once-in-a-generation passer who could also shoot, and who had a huge personality. The Next Andre Iguodala, maybe.

(Note that the Rockets went on to lose the game.)

    It's OFFICIAL: Scoot can Shoot.

In 2025 so far, Scoot ranks #1 in 3-point shooting %,

and #1 in True Shooting percentage for the Trail Blazers.

Would like to see scoot work on these euro style moves at the rim this summer. He can get to the basket but often has a hard time getting a clean look at the rim once he’s there.

Scoot already our best player? Last ten games:
    upload_2025-3-9_12-14-43.png

Happy to see Jabari finally in the rotation and contributing, even if it's only because of our lack of healthy or non-foul-prone centers.

Not happy to see that Jerami's game has completely fallen apart. At this point the only way we'll offload him is with a buyout.

Jerami is still better than most of our bench… just don’t give him too many minutes and we can get some use out of him before he gives up the ghost.

Grant has had a bad year, but he’s NOT at the point in his career of being a back-up. Still a guy who D’s up. His shot has taken a leave of absence. He’s fine. Seeing his contract gone 2 years earlier would be good; however, he’s a good dude on the team. It’s mostly a timeline thing IMHO.

As to Scoot, he looks like an NBA point guard — a starter. I wouldn’t want to see him traded — though if BPA in the draft is a PG or a true combo guard who likes to play D, draft him! No small SGs — must have positional size with some “it” who can actually fit with Scoot and Shae.

Scoot just seems more in command of himself, his own game and gets the O going. I’m a fan of the Billups, Nash, Stockton PG floor general … the Andre Miller old man game … Jason friggin’ Kidd … Terry Porter.

A trade or a pick this summer should bring in someone who is, or has a real, shot at being better than Scoot, Sharpe, Deni, or Toumani AND who fits playing beside them on D.

Anyone have any thoughts on why Scoot's assist numbers are down?

Post All Star his assists are down to 4 per game. Pre AllStar he was averaging 5 per game.

Biggest change is that he's averaging 3 more shots per game Post AllStar. He's up to 12 FGA from only 9 FGA.

He's also averaging 1.5 more 3 point attempts since the All-Star game, and his 3P% has actually gone up from 36.5% to 37.9%.

I don't know. I have seen 3 or 4 times in the last two games where I thought he was close enough to the basket to make the shot but instead tried to dish it, usually with bad results. he is getting better at finishing at the basket; maybe a lot of his assists previously came from passing back out?

He took Mitchell Robinson for a ride and made him look like a fool. Just horrible defense. Highlight reel material.

This is a confidence issue, in my experience. Quality coaching fixes this.

That's easy: lobs. No DA and RWIII hurts [a lot] in that respect, and defenses have been doing a better job of identifying those plays. Scoot is our best at throwing lobs, so his numbers will suffer the most.

Once again proving that these cherry picked stats don't mean shit. Scoot has not been our best player. Ant and Bari have not been better than Deni. Ant, Duop, Kris (fucking Kris) amd Rayan have not been better than Shaedon and I think it's arguable but Clingan hasn't either.

He has been getting more experience and confidence, hence being more aggressive imo. Which is a good thing. As a young player coming into the NBA, especially at his age and with no college experience can be overwhelming at first like we saw in season one.

Now he knows he belongs, is getting more experience and being more aggressive.

Another reasons his assists could be down a little too is no Ayton latley, who he loves to run pick and rolls with and throw up lobs too
