I assumed it’s because he was shooting more. Few more shots a game instead of dishing?

Scoot has the highest ceiling imo. I want it to be Sharpe, but it is Scoot. We saw it on display again last night. This is why I laugh when I hear people say he can't be a top 1 or 2 go-to guy for us. He's incredibly efficient at such a young age and he already has a killer mentality.

Nobody needs to eat crow about this kid…..they just need to learn to be patient with these KIDS! KIDS, trying to learn this game playing against the best in the world. This dudes is going to have some shitty games still, doesn’t mean he isn’t learning. Works his ass off, I know that.

Leading rotation players in 3-point % in 2025, and almost at the top in True Shooting %.

    (both tables for 2025)

We need Shae to spend more time with Scoot, Deni and Tou.

I'm sure there are advanced stats available somewhere that show what percentage of plays he shoots or passes on. That would answer whether it's the overall volume (playing off the ball less) or shot:pass ratio that's changing. The eye test says he's still looking to pass just as much as before.

^ That was meant to be shot-to-pass ratio but with a colon, but I like the bbcode typo, so I'll leave it as-is.

Sounds like Scoot (and Simons) have been playing really well. At least that what the box scores look like to me. Let that cake bake baby

We need Shae to spend time with Marques Haynes and Curly Neal. Got to tighten up that handle.

Is it too late to get Grant some coaching too?

I thought it was just being too much into sharing... trying to be a great teammate.

I wanted either Thompson brother instead of Scoot in his draft as it left open the possibility of keeping Dame (at least in my mind). I was not that unhappy with the pick nor with keeping the pick and trading Dame. Because of this rationalization, I’m eating only a 1/2 serving of crow.

Now to Scoot — he’s a starting NBA point guard. He still has plenty to learn and can put himself in a bad position, BUT he has changed/grown in every aspect. He’s an average-sized PG but also seriously built with some twitch and want to. Will he become a good, lead PG? I think so. Quality? Top 15 in the League? I think so. He needs to work on being efficient.

Portland doesn’t need a PG for years to come … a back-up? Yes.
BPA is still the best pick in the draft regardless of position. It’s a rebuild in a strong draft.

So why didn't Scoot play more last night? He seemed to be having a good game.

I thought the only good he was doing was shooting threes, 5 TO in 20 minutes. poor defense?

After his putback dunk, he made a string of bad decisions/plays so he got yanked. Then Banton was playing so well that it didn’t make sense to put Scoot back in.
