Game 1: Vikings vs. Cardinals.Tension was high in Arizona as the Vikings in Cardinals faced off, a test of how good each team really was. The Vikings struggled early in the game on defense but forced a three and out leading to a punt. The very next play, brad Johnson threw an 80 yard bomb to burner Troy Williamson for a touchdown, their first connection of the season, giving the Vikings a 7-0 lead. Matt Leinart, named the starting quarterback the same day, had a hard time adjusting to the change of pace NFL in his first game. Leinart threw 4 interceptions, however his 2 touchdown passes were very impressive. The key moment of the day came with 34 seconds left in the 4th Quarter with the Cardinals on a drive to set up a field goal for a tie. Kevin Williams bull rushed the cardinals offensive line and tallied 4 sacks in a 20 second span, crushing Leinart and the Cardinals hopes of an overtime game. Final Score- 31-28 VikingsKey stats-QB.Brad Johnson- 15-34, 247 Yards, 2 TD's, 3 INT's.Matt Leinart- 9-21, 242 Yards, 2 TD's, 4 INT'sRB. The 1-0 Vikings are heading off to Seattle this week to play against the Seahawks. This will be a true test of the Viking's defense, going up against an explosive running back like Shaun Alexander. Steve Hutchinson faces off against his old team and tensions should be flaring.

Vikings personell found out earlier this week that Shaun Alexander's sore knee was much worse than expected. Shaun Alexander is expected to miss the entire 2006-2007 season with a torn ACL. Can you say Madden curse? The Vikings will now have to shift their gameplan to the passing attack of matt hasselbeck.
