Will you still fly after today's events?I'm sure you've all heard of 24 people's plots to blow up 10 planes from England to the US. Now, all liquids and gels will have to be confiscated. People are now expected to arrive 2-3 hours early because of extensive hand checks of luggage. There are currently 2 check points (in major airports at least) a prelim regular check and now another baggage check at the gate. Hundreds of police with automatic weapons or dogs are around the airport.

I've never been on a plane. I don't want to go on one though, I always think of the bad things that could happen, never the positive, so I would be too scared.

I think I would try to avoid it, but If I had no other choice I would go on the plane. I'd rather drive the 5 hour car rides or so because with all the security checks I wouldnt save any time by flying plus you never know when some terrorist is going to try and hijack a plane because now its happened multiple times. But if I had to go cross-country or something I would go on the plane. It is only like a .01% chance that something like that would happen anyways.....I still think that they should have two Armed Police on Planes though as that would end all of these 'hijackings' IMO.

I love flying. Nothing deters me from it.I don't think all these precautions are for domestic flights though, probably mainly for international.

There was a plot to blow up 10 planes. How many flights are there in a single day? How many planes are in the air at once? Thousands! The chances of it happening to you are the chances of a snowball in hell.

This is exactly what the terrorists and government want from you. They want you to be paranoid. Paranoia and fear are carl rove's keys to success. This happens, people get scared, that leads to fear, fear leads to hatred, hatred leads to voting in another idiot as our president. :banghead: You are never free until you no longer have a sense of fear. Stop being afraid people. The more afraid you are, the more it shows the terrorists that their plan is working. It's not the killing of the people that the terrorists really care about. It's more the sense that blowing up said plane will A. Instill fear into hated world. B. Rally more people behind them. Plus this whole "global war on terrorism" is not helping. Don't you understand that every time you kill an innocent Iraqi or Afghani man or woman, it creates more terrorists. If your innocent mother or father were killed when you were little, you would probably resort to the same thing in those given circumstances.Last part of my rant is don't be mad at Pakistan. They did nothing. It's like being mad at all of america because there are nutcases like tim mcvay. It is uncalled for and makes no sense and is blatant racism. The Pakistani government helped in stopping this plot so no need to "curse the pakistani's". I hope all of you enjoyed my highly political and brilliant rant. :beerbang2:

Welcome to reality.Plots like these are always being done. It's just that this one was lucky enough to be 'overheard' on the media.

That being said I know I might get flamed for this but the plot that these terrorists had was utterly brilliant and foolproof. I'm amazed that they got caught.

I have no reason to be flying anytime soon, but I might fly somewhere just to spite the terrorists.

The media is not reliable. Facts are edited, things are left out, the government censors it (just cause the first amendment says otherwise, doesn't mean legislation hasn't made loopholes), the "witness" can falsify anything and the interviewer would take it as fact, there is always bias in every publication (it's impossible for writers not to write with a bias), they fabricate stories using "under the table, off the record" sources noone can find. There are too many things that make the media basically a brain-washing leagues of companies. We're spoon fed everything from the media and we have no other choice than to believe otherwise basically.

I try to tell them that this is the very thing that is brainwashing you. They believe anything they say pretty much. What people need to do is question the media instead of treating it like we absolutely need it. The frustrating thing is that we DO need it so there's no real way around it. :ranting:

You never hear about the Iraqi citizens who are glad we took out Saddam. As for flying, my family and I go to Florida every other winter vacation. Next time I see myself flying is still over a year and a half away give or take. But if I need to, I'll still fly. And I agree 100% with what PurplePeopleEaters said. The terroists wnat to cause fear and disrupt everyday life. That's why after 9/11 when sports started up again I was so happy. Because I could get back to my normal everyday life.
