<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Another position to watch is running back. With Curtis Martin's career in jeopardy, the Jets are eager to see if Derrick Blaylock and Cedric Houston can do the job. If not, they almost certainly will trade for a veteran. The Redskins' Ladell Betts has emerged as a possibility.</div>http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football...3p-372653c.htmlWith Lumsden showing he can definitely carry the load for us in the NFL as a backup RB in the scrimmage vs. the TOUGH-D Ravens the other day, losing Betts wouldn't bother me as much as it would without Lumsden, not to mention we have Rock Cartwright who comes into the game and makes huge plays, helping the Redskins vs. the Rams w/ 9 carries for 118 yds last year. Betts deserves to be starting somewhere and I really think the Jets would love this guy. Behind their new, young line he could make quite a statement in this league.

Cedric Houston looked pretty good yesterday. Blaylock looked HORRIBLE though.

I like Houston, I was a big fan of him at Tennesee. Is Betts the answer? I don't think so, I doubt he can carry the ball 25 times a game.

He makes the most out of every carry he gets and has shown to never let up, he is a very hard worker and could carry the load for a lot of teams.

I know Houston is a pretty good RB but I doubt he is as versatile as Betts is. Betts is a good reciever, returner and runner, he can pretty much do it all. He's more well rounded, I think you'd much rather have him as your back. He should be the #1 guy somewhere.

Mewelde Moore, Onterrio Smith, and Quentin Griffin.Cedric is a tough up the middle runner with enough burst to make plays outside. So he's not a kick returner... so what? I'd rather have a better starting RB than one that can return kicks.

Betts can make the same kind of plays Houston can, only more, is what I'm trying to say.

First of all, so far the Jets have been interested in....Thomas JonesChris BrownMichael TurnerLaDell BettsLee Suggsect. ect. ect.Out of those I would much rather have any of the top 3. LaDell Betts is at most a minimal upgrade (and probably worse) then what we currently have and having him wouldnt make any bit of difference over the course of a season. I could care less about his versatility because we already have Blaylock who is versitile since he can return, recept, and run the ball somewhat well. We dont need another player like that. What we need is a player with the potential to be an everydown back and LaDell Betts is always going to be a Second Runningback at best. So yeah, Id Definately pass on Betts.

the only one of that group that i would take is Thomas Jones, because he can be an everydown back for a whole season. Thenwe can draft a #1 franchise guy

Now granted, he is a bit injury prone so Im not sure if I could see it happening but definately an upgrade over what we have. Michael Turner has put up 5.7 YPC in his career. He is the only player who I think could be another LaMont Jordan where one teams backup is another mans starter. Now, obviously I dont expect him to continue putting up 5.7 but I dont see why he couldnt get 4.5 YPC or something like that. The problem here is that he probably will be a bit pricey since guys who average 5.7 YPC dont come cheap, but I imagine a 3rd rounder (and maybe we'll throw in McCareins :whistling: ) would get it done.

Dang, if the Jets got Betts they could make the playoffs. He could start for at last 15 teams IMO.

Michael TurnerOf our options, he doesn't crack my top 5. I mean, he can't block worth a crap, Houston is an excellent blocker, Houston runs harder in the middle, Houston's proved he could handle the load...

Where did you get this "he can't block" from? How is it homerism when we're talking about the Jets? [IMG]

That's not a fact lolYou should be glad you're getting a good RB (doubt he's leaving though)Portis is fine. That injury sounds a lot worse than it really is. Portis played with a bad calf, toe, and elbow (or wrist, can't remember) last year. He's fine...
