I think more athletic, better defender but his ability to project to Spider's perimeter scoring isn't there.

Yeah, he was who I had in mind when I said "could drop".
Although Donovan's 6'10" wingspan for a 6'3" guard makes up for a lot.

I really want to get there with VJ, but I don't remember a player this rigid with the ball developing into a heavy on-ball player.

Maybe he has the speed and strength combo and be the exception though with some big handling improvements....idk. All I know is he plays moreso like a slashing off ball wing right now that only finds consistent success getting to the rim off the dribble if he can reject a ball screen and find a straight line to the rim or off a designed scissor cut type action. The pull up is still really rough right now too minus some flashes.

I do think me being low on his star upside caused me to overcorrect though. The reasonable floor of being like a super charged Gary Harris / KCP type with a Bradley Beal with less skill and shooting but more juice and defense ceiling should have him in a tier above guys like Kon and Jase.

I've only watched a couple plays of his in just one game, but my thought was Stevie Francis.

Good athleticism comp from a speed, power and vertical aspect, but Steve was way more dynamic with the ball at a younger age.

He was doing stuff in high school that VJ hasn't come close to.

From the minimal amount of research I've been doing, I really like Ace Bailey. Looks like everything we need at the SF position. I hope we get lucky and get a top 3 pick.

    75% 6'6" Payton Pritchard
    25% Devin Booker

He's going to be a very good pro.

I agree and if we pull that off the worst we can be is tied with the Spurs for 8th in the lotto.

We aren't going to have a second round pick , are we? Atlanta will finish too high. And then Joe traded away both our 2024 picks and couldn't get a 2025 for either or even for both?

At the moment, no, I don't think we have a 2R pick, but I wouldn't sweat it. IIRC, just about every 2R pick was traded last year. If there's someone Cronin and Schmitz really like, they'll buy their way into a position to pick them somehow.

Plus, if we are actively unloading some of our vets, I definitely could see a 2R pick coming back somewhere. There are a lot of ways to make something happen.

Just realistic, I think. The way we gave up those 2Rs last year is a good example of how easy they are to move.
