Paul Allen built the Rose Garden for the Blazers. What are you talking about?

Obviously. A better way to say it is that it was designed to handle an NHL team as well. Marshall Glickman has said this many times. Paul Allen was close two times in getting a team.

It was designed to bring an NHL team to town. The Penguins were the target if I’m not mistaken.

The NHL had a schedule for the Penguins for both the west and east

Yeah when we built it there was plenty of talk about the NHL and yes the Rose Garden was designed to easily transform from Ice to Hardwood. There is even special ventilation ducts to prevent fog forming if they needed to flip fast. That can be a problem if condensation starts to take hold.

Looks like SB 110 got a recommendation for a pass being sent to the floor. Look for it to be approved today..

Nearly $1 billion dollars towards the construction of a stadium

Didn't help that Paul Allen pretty much nixed the NHL to Portland stuff, otherwise there would have been an NHL team like 25 years ago or more.

Wasn't Paul ready to buy the Penguins but Mario & others purchased to keep franchise in Pittsburg?

Looks like the commish from a recent interview wants a team on the west coast time zone. He was asked about Portland at 38:36

I believe that is correct. The Moda was designed to bring in NHL team and we don’t even have one.

Exactly what my research has brought me. People ALWAYS use Portland as a way to leverage. Most recently evidenced by the A's. Even free agents do it to get max deals.

All of the research I've done has pointed me to the Rose Garden being built to be a multi-purpose arena. It wasn't "designed to bring in an NHL team". That was an option but PA wasn't gonna buy that team.

I think that's the story, but it's not like there weren't other times when a franchise was for sale.

The Moda is also designed to float if PA ever wanted to move the team and the arena to Seattle. It would immediately be classified as the world's largest yacht if launched into the Willamette.

The apartment becomes the bridge and they just drive it from there. It’s the same when they launch the Rose Garden for space flight.

I don't think Paul Allen ever wanted a NHL team. It would be competition for discretionary dollars spent on the Blazers.

    That is surely worded weirdly.
