    Who’s our coach next year?

    Billups?

    Jenkins Memphis coach just fired?

    Other options?

this decision really is a make or break for the franchise. With so many young guys this will be critical hire. Team has gotten use to Billups which I would consider a players coach.

The team has a $2M option for next season. So I see no reason that the team wouldn't tell Chauncey that in his lame duck season that he need to lead this team to the playoffs to earn his next contract. Chauncey is cheap and he will have no seasons they have to pay him not to coach.

So, if Joe can get rid of Ant, Jerami, Rob and maybe even Deandre while adding a smaller or more modern 5 to platoon with Clingan along with a guy or two that can play Chauncey's full court blitzing/switching D, hit threes and dunk on the break, then it's playoffs or find a new job for Chauncey and it's another year at just $2M for their head coach at Vulcan HQ.

Hopefully they get Memphis's interim interim head coach.

Billups has way outperformed expectations for this roster. It is possible he would get coty votes if not for the tremendous years had by DET and CLE. I am ok with keeping him. Stotts got a lot of shit from us, myself included, but took a roster of basically mids other than Dame and CJ to the WCF. How many from that roster are still in the league?

Has he outperformed though? I’m no fan of the Conductor, but a team with Ayton, Grant, Ant, Sharpe, Scoot, Avdija, Camara and Clingan should be about where they are. A lot of people in here were saying they were too good to be shitty, so it was up to management to make them shitty. They didn’t, so realistically he’s conducted them to about the right record. Cronin, on the other hand, should get EOY votes due to assembling a good young core. If anyone disagrees, go fuck yourself

And yes, I think they will extend Billups and move on from Cronin

Agreed, the team is almost exactly the sum of its parts. Unfortunately some of the parts are broken, and others are low quality.

Not Billups. He’s already lost enough after being hired to coach a Dame team not this one. Thank him.
Move on to a new generation of Portland Trail Blazers.

Jenkins is a possible. David Adelman in his final year with the Nuggets as lead assistant. He’s paid his dues.

That makes no sense based on your assessment of both.

Hawks announcers said you want Duop taking 3’s, but what he can do is rebound. NO ONE pays attention to Portland

I coached a boys' 7th-grade team to the championship 2 out of the 3 years I was the head coach.

We should hire the 3 time champion and coach of the year Blazer legend Brandon Roy

Maybe towards the end of next season if the front office tightens up the roster in the off season and the team still has a losing record.

That's why it makes a lot of sense for the team to pick up the final year option on Chauncey. If the team is doing really well around the all star break they can extend him and if they're not they can wait until there's like 20 games left in next season and fire him.
