You read it wrong. Bert wants to buy a 2025 Chevrolet Blazer.

Stotts’ Blazers finished 6th in defensive rating in 17-18. Right now the defensive minded Conductor has better defenders and has them 17th…..his best thus far

Different game back then. Offenses are better now.

Because of the things Stotts created as a coach. At least that has been said by a few players and coaches around the NBA.

Not sure if people here are aware of this, but I am preety sure Avdija was long sought after by Schmitz (Prior to Draft).

Enjoy the following video - a year 2020 - 45 minutes - one on one - reviewing Deni plays in Maccabi days (he and Amar'e Stoudemire had killer chemistry BTW) :

I wonder if “Toad990” is this forums version of JinxSpeed. Can you imagine if somebody copy and pasted HIS posts and used them as a Blazer insider type on another teams forum?

    * the median offensive rating in 2017-18 was 108.9. The median offensive rating this season is 114.8. A differential of 5.9
    * Portland's defensive rating in 2017-18 was 106.4. Portland's defensive rating this season is 115.2. That's a differential of 8.8

so, while offenses are 5.9 points better this season than in 2017-18, Portland defense was 8.8 points better then than now. a 2.9 point comparative differential in favor of 2017-18

another way to gauge: in 2017-18, Portland's defense was 2.5 points better than the average defense; this season, Portland's defense was 0.4 points worse than the average defense

I think people underestimate the defensive prowess of that 2017-18 team. Yes, it had Dame & CJ in the backcourt, But the front line was Nurkic-Aminu-Harkless and that was a capable front line. Further, that team had a healthy Ed Davis/Zach Collins duo that were kind of joined at the hip and were very good at defense and disruption. It also had Evan Turner as a 6th man he was solid defensively all year. And, even though he was tiny Shabazz Napier was a surprising decent defender; he was next to impossible to beat of the dribble

this year's defense made progress, although compared to last season the progress is being over-stated because of last year's tank. The current defense would get better organically if the team was able to offload Simons and Ayton

Lol. I wasn't posting it for any inside info. Just the general vibe of how the fans seem to appreciate him.

Fans of any professional sports teams pretty much never know these sorts of things about the inner workings of management and we don't have any real examples of ownership meddling here. For me anyway, the question is how much do I agree with the decisions being made & then I blame/credit those said to be in charge.

I consistently hated the decision making under the Olshey regime but largely have been in agreement with those made under Cronin.

How does it matter when you are discussing position within the league?

17th best in today is still 17th best in the league and the 9th best in the league in another year is still 9th best in the league.

    Great story.

Doesn't mean Jody has anywhere close to 5 billion extra dollars sitting around. NBA doesn't let owners buy teams leveraged.

Most billionaires can't afford an NBA team - regardless of how insanely rich they are. Need many billion - most likely tens of billions in wealth.
