I liked Sochan coming out of Baylor because of his ball handling and defense for a forward. And I would also take him this year if he were in the draft. But with Camara and Deni already on the team, I think we would be better off using our trade assets on a more significant need. The question is, what is our biggest need that is realistically obtainable? A young backup PG like Black, who excels defensively? Or a young backup PG who excels at shooting? Tough to answer, not knowing what they intend to do with Ayton, Grant, and Simons. Realistically, can they move Grant's contract? Probably the hardest one to move since the other two have ending contracts. Right now, I am going to assume he will be back. They certainly can still trade for a young replacement, though. (or just draft one) If they move Ayton and start Clingan, more offense is needed. But IMO it would be wiser to keep Ayton and try to negotiate a smaller contract. I think that is possible. If they move Simons, a shooter is most definitely needed. So I guess my answer is that we go after a PG who can shoot and give Rupert more minutes at SG for his defensive ability. Or just draft one. Fears or Richardson? That position seems to be pretty deep in this draft.
This time it took 54 tries to get the #1. Again San Antonio got it a bunch of times. I counted 6 times for SA in 54 tries.
156 times! Finally go #1. Spurs got it a ton of times for me though. That was my prediction before, Spurs will be starting Flagg and Wemby side by side for the next 15 years!
Looking at the players that have been projected in the top 12 or so, it appears it is guard heavy. I realize most think BPA regardless, but, maybe Joe feels we are set at guard with then two he drafted high, thus, no urgency to tank to the bottom. He probably has someone in the 9-10 range in mind, probably not guard.
