Target a power forward (talent) to add to what we have been building: Add Jalen Jackson, Jr. (25 years old, past DPY) [send Ayton and a 2029 pick] Keep our #9 pick and target best available PF trade away Grant trade Ant plus a 2029 draft pick for a 2025 #1 pick and target an athletic Center Clinghan / a 2025 pick / Reath Jackson / Walker / our 2025 1st round pick Toumari / Murray / Rupert Sharpe / Thybulle / Banton Deni / Scoot / McGowens
Giannis and Dame for Scoot, Sharpe, Ayton and Grant Dame/Camara/Deni/Giannis/Clingan Anfernee/Thybulle/Murray/Walker/RW3 Then ideally, a few cheap vets to fill in at C and on the wings for the bench. Imagine a closing defensive lineup of Thybulle/Camara/Deni/Giannis/Clingan?
Then hire the best pick and roll coach possible. Might get lucky and make a deep run once or twice while Dame can still play.
Asking why the Kings would do something completely forgets who the Sacramento Kings are as a franchise.
I think we should clear the runway for Sharpe. This means no Ant and no player like Durant who is great but would be in the way. I’m fine with Zion though.
Here are the stars that I think could be available this summer: Booker Durant Zion Dame Trae Young Jamal Murray Ja The only guys on that list that would interest me are Booker and maybe Zion. I think we could either do a solo trade for Booker where we send expiring contracts/picks and maybe one young player OR I could see a threeway with Booker coming here and Durant going to Houston. Zion is interesting. If he could be had for expiring contracts and some picks, I think it could be worth it. I'm seriously starting to wonder if the team isn't sold on Scoot though. Would people be willing to roll the dice on Scoot/Ayton/picks for Zion?
I hate to be the ICE cold water on this thread but what pieces do the Blazers have that could land a big fish ?? Unless this team gets a Top 3 pick then MAYBE they could package a Grant or something with it to get a deal done but unless that happens the chances of it happening is not happening. The only chance is if Cronin can find a GM dumber then him so do a deal .. so do the Mavs have anyone we want -- LOL -- kidding but that is my point.
I think you would trying to get Zion, Trae or Ja. It just seems like they might need a change of scenery?? I still don’t think that makes POR a contender though. Give up Scoot, DC, Tou or Deni. Keep Shae and pray he turns the corner. The vets are just expirings at this point. Nobody wants DA or JG. They will be out of the league after their deals are up unless they take a huge huge pay cut. All that said I would hope Joe doesn’t do it unless a deal is just too good to refuse. My problem is I like these young guys and don’t want to see them go. Say in 3 years what will they look like, provided they get some additional diamonds in the rough or nail the draft picks? Should be pretty good hopefully
A lot actually. Ayton and Simons are expiring deals. They could clear 50 million off someone’s books. We have the 2029 Bucks pick and two swaps those picks could be worth a lot. Milwaukee is not looking so hot. We have young players. Blazers could move either scoot or Sharpe for the right player. Our own pick this summer, which will be a mid lotto pick most likely. We could definitely go all in if we saw the right player.
If we made a trade for Booker is there really a need for Shaedon. Can Shaedon reach Bookers level of play?
If the Kings do decide to part with Sabonis they will need a young-prime center. We’ve got one. We also have young players and draft picks.
Ayton and Ant are actually young. They could reLoad instead of reBuild. I think the owner would like that. Again, in the scenario where their change direction, which I think is a real possibility.
If they want to win now, they keep Sabonis. My presumption was that they wanted to get a little younger.
