If we're logical with our policies it would be in everyone's best interest to adhere to it.

Everyone except some despots and oligarchs.

It seems quite silly of us to put ourselves in a less advantageous position at the whims of a few rich and selfish people.

    But that's what we're doing.

Not opposed to world trade....Having worked a MFG who at one time had over 8K employees in Milwaukee, union jobs, 1985, then reduced to 2500 Jobs, almost overnight because they moved focused factories to China of which they own 50%. Nothing wrong with wanting more manufacturing back here.

Companies just don’t want to pay what it takes to make a good living here. They’ll avoid it at all costs. I mean it sounds good in theory. But the greed overrunneth.

There aren't enough laborers here. I work in manufacturing now. We can't get enough employees to do the manufacturing that we already have.

Any manufacturing that comes back is going to be automated. All of the money is going into billionaire's pockets. And we'll have a more isolationist less secure world. Nothing about that is good.

To what degree it is bad is definitely up for debate.

There is almost certainly nothing good about it.

And even with competition from slave labor (which is only going to increase as America steps back, not decrease) we are at full employment... There isn't a large group of potential laborers for us to hire.

Good on you for not preaching to your kids that college is the holy grail. There’s so many niches and needs out there that don’t need a rubber stamped bachelors degree.

I became more of a student in my 30’s than I ever cared to become in my 20’s

This video is extremely interesting about what Trump's team is trying to do.

It makes a lot of sense about what they're trying to do..... but it won't work.

Big mistake is thinking Trump has some kind of grand plan. He is a senile failed businessman convinced he is a genius operating on stream of consciousness. The only sure thing is racism and cruelty.

Lifting tariffs on electronics will make things worse for American manufacturing. Because tariffs on components were not lifted, it becomes even more expensive to manufacture here and cheaper to purchase from abroad.
