Yep this is probably what we'll have moving forward. Now we just need to rely on the front office being the best in the league and we might make a deep run or two before we have to start over in a decade or so.
just some recent history: in 2019, after a 53 win season and a trip to the WCF, the Blazers gave extensions to Olshey and Stotts. Two years later they were both gone
This place is, for the most part, an echo chamber. I think most fans do not think the same way about the team as most of the people here do, good or bad.
My problem is that if they improve another 10 games which is a reasonable expectation. They win 45 games. that puts them in the 9th seed as the standings sit this year. To make any real impact they need to win 15 more games next year and that still doesn't get them home court. It's still most likely a first round out. Who honestly thinks this team will see a 15 game improvement?
Over 2/3rds of the league is mediocre at best, very year. Of the 30 teams, not even 10 are considered contenders each year. Half of the league as of today are under 500.
It certainly could be looked at that way but then this team as it sits probably could have made the playin and maybe even made the playoffs as it sits? Honestly it's just so hard to gauge because I doubt they ever really tried to push for the playoffs.
Not sure i agree with that? I think Jody/Bert, Joe and Chauncey want to build a contender. I don't know exactly how they could have done better other than tank better which I believe Chauncey has a very hard time doing.
for the folks here: two years is not a commitment. Coaches get fired with two years left on their deals all the time. don’t think Chauncey is good at X and Os, but it seems like that Bjorkgrens job right now anyways
Regardless of sport, making decisions trying to appease fickle fans is about the dumbest way to run a franchise. STOMP
BitterJones is right. I mean, it's not like they spent money on a g-league team, or hired one of the most respected scouts out there (Schmitz), or hired Sergio Oliva, one of the "top 40 under 40" guys. But being bitter is more fun.
I agree with this. Kind of seems like they are going to see what Billups does next year and they will make a decision.
My guess is Chauncey has a short leash for next year. Like, if they started off next year like they did this year, he'll be cut.
that's possible it may even be possible there is a team option for those extra 2 years after next season. Not likely though
