The reason I get so upset and pinwheel this is kind of aimed at you IF it's true you wanted Billups back and Ayton and Ant is this ....

I want this team to be a contender and some fans are just happy to let the team be MID but I am not and any fan that wants / is just content to be mid are not a fan i want to connect with so if I insult / push away those type of fans .. I DO NOT CARE -- PERIOD

how much under-the-table money do you suppose the Rockets paid the Lakers to trot out that line-up today?

I did? Thanks for letting me know.

How long do you guys need to vent? The snark comes because it is the same shit over and over every game. I would hope the game threads would be about the actual game. But no, it is about a few of you bitching about the same thing. There is a reason why the threads are so short, and it is not because of the lack of interest in the team.

I honestly didn't care one way or the other if Billups came back or not. But yes, I did play devil's advocate to some of the idiotic reasons why he should be fired.
(or Ant and Ayton dumped for very little)

I don't know one way or the other if Chauncey sucks as a coach. As I said in another thread, I am not at the practices nor in the huddles. What I do know is that most of you don't know either....but you all seem to think you do.

You think these threads have been so short because fans were chased off and not because our team has been aimless???

    Portland attendance rankings:

    2012-13 -4th
    2013-14 - 5th
    2014-15 - 8th
    2015-16 - 8th
    2016-17 - 9th
    2017-18 - 8th
    2018-19 - 7th

    2021-22 - 13th
    2022-23 - 10th
    2023-24 - 13th
    2024-25 - 20th

I think product has a lot more to do with interest than posters at S2 bitching about direction

another example, in 2005-06 when the Blazers won 21 games, Portland ranked 30th in attendance. The following season, when Roy and Aldridge were rookies, Portland was 22nd. The following season, after drafting Oden, Portland was 7th in attendance even though Oden didn't play. The next season, when Portland won 54 games, Portland was 3rd in attendance

As long as it's the same ownership or I should trustee this team will always look at just being good enough to generate butts in the seats and viewership. 15 of the 30 teams finished under 500 almost like every year. It's a league of mediocrity and the only way they sell it is through play-ins, playoffs etc.

I can only talk for myself, and the answer is absolutely yes. The posts are so annoying, even after a win, I can't think of any reason why any person with a life would. Admittedly, I have no life, so I do read them, but yeah, I think that a few fans have been so repetitive with their annoying posts that many have stopped participating.

I have phone discussions on the Blazers with family and friends about the games, and those discussions are completely different from this message board. And these are all die-hard fans who are mostly season ticket holders.

Yeah, I could see a few people not looking at game threads because of what you're saying but I think the absolute decimation of those threads is at least 90% due to fans being let down by the organization and just biding their time until the team is playing for something again.

The idea that it's toxic people posting when anyone can use the ignore feature and not a lack of interest in the team because of the direction and performance of the team seems like a significant miscalculation to me.

I don't ignore anyone, it makes the thread confusing when someone else replies to it. Plus it would make the threads really small.

nba tv ratings are down 19% this year. There has been a ton of discussion about how the three point shot has altered the game dramatically and reduced interest, but the reduction in general interest is undeniable

the Blazers have won 27, 33, 21, & 35 games over the last 4 seasons...an average of 29 wins a year. The team traded away their franchise player and unarguably the most loyal player in the team's history, and did so after failing to build a contender around him. They spent a decade with a condescending incompetent asshole as GM. And the long time owner died 7 years ago resulting in the team being owned by a trust that is manged by people who seem a lot more interested in cash flow than is building a contender

but sure, it's people like you and I posting negative opinions in game threads that are responsible for lot more people not posting in game threads at all

To be clear, it is not the negative options that are annoying. It is repeating the same thing over and over, no matter what the outcome of the game is.
Often, I agree with what you are saying, I just don't need to hear it repeated every game. Maybe talk about the actual game?

fair enough. Most of the time I don't participate a lot in game threads anyway. Today was the last chance to piss and moan...in a game thread

I think it is evident this org is not serious about building a contender. Sure they want to win and maybe make the playoffs but that is as far as it goes.
