    3rd season, at 21:

pretty important context is that Booker was the clear #1 option on a 21 win team. Sharpe was fairly close in efficiency and might have been able to match Booker's production if he'd got the shots and usage

Booker has had 4 seasons of averaging at least 6.5 assists, including averaging 7 over the last 2 seasons with a 2.5 assist/turnover ratio. I'm not sure Sharpe will ever have play-making at that level in his toolbox

If we trade Ayton, Murray and a 29 conditional 1st pick - I don’t believe this sort of trade for Zion would “blow up in our face” - just don’t give up any more than this

Likely not. But, it would be a hell of a trade if Cronin pulled it off.

    Santi.

    Aldama.

If there’s one player who has that Deni-like breakout potential with a bigger role it’s Santi.

RFA iirc so it’ll be tricky

A big swing trade still makes no sense right now. Trades like Anthony + Black for Ant make sense in re-assigning roles on this team and seeing if we can take it to the next level, which I would be in favor of.

But I am against trading any 1sts for anyone right now without knowing what we have in this team for a full season.

I wouldn't trade for a 'Star' player who knows he is coming as #1 - this could mess up team chemistry and change the trajectory IMO...
I suggest trading for a good veteran PG like Tyus Jones a-la chris paul to continue Scoots support and growth..
And if any 3rd years with potential not tapped yet at the 2 or 4 is good as well.

depends on the target I suppose, and the price

but right now I'm getting 2015-16 deju vu vibes. The Blazers won 44 games that season after the Dame-Aldridge team disintegrated. I think there pre-season over/under was 27 wins. Instead, they made it to the playoffs, then beat an injury-decimated Clippers team in the 1st round. It was a major 'Feel Good' vibe. Olshey and the rest of the organization completely misinterpreted the context of that season, and it allowed Olshey to go on that idiotic 340M spending spree for CJ-Crabbe-Turner-Harkless-Meyers-Ezeli. And that hamstrung the franchise for years

same kind of feel-good vibes right now; extending Cronin & Billups. Constant citing of a 15 win improvement over a deliberately tanked previous season. I'm just hoping the Blazers don't repeat making a major miscalculation based upon ignored context. Blazers have depth and a relatively strong supporting cast. But they need a batman; going all in on another Robin would be a mistake

I can't see that happening. Naz can play next to Gobert better than Ayton.

He's got a PO and prob won't ;pick it up. Wolves could pay him but?
I see them getting rid of Gobert if he doesn't show up against lakers.

    Doesn't work for 3 reasons:
    1) Doesn't work cap wise. MIN is taking back too much money.
    2) Naz is likely to opt out and become a FA this summer... meaning MIN likely does not have the ability to trade Naz.
    3) Why would MIN do this?

Yes, the Minnesota Timberwolves could potentially trade Naz Reid, but it's unlikely in the short term. Reid is a popular player with the Wolves, and the team is generally expected to retain him, especially given his strong play and his player option for the 2026-27 season. However, his contract situation and the team's cap situation could influence a potential trade, particularly in the offseason.
    Here's a more detailed look:
    • Reid's Player Option:
Naz Reid has a player option for the 2026-27 season, which could make him a more appealing trade asset if the Wolves were worried about losing him in free agency.
    • Team's Desire to Retain Him:
The Timberwolves are generally expected to keep Reid, especially since he is a fan favorite and has become a key part of the team's identity.
    • Potential Trade Scenarios:
The Timberwolves could consider trading Reid if they are looking to make a significant salary cap move or if they believe Reid's value is higher on the trade market than his potential future value to the team.
    • Reid's Contract:
Reid's contract situation is a bit complex. While he has a player option, a veteran extension might be limited by CBA regulations, potentially making it difficult for the Wolves to retain him on a long-term deal.
    • Free Agency:
If Reid opts out of his player option, he would become an unrestricted free agent, which would make him a higher-risk player for the Timberwolves to try and retain.

Yes - MIN ***could potentially*** trade Naz. But that is 100% dependent upon Naz opting into his player option, which is very unlikely.

MIN has no control over the situation. So this discussion quickly becomes a moot point.

Maybe Nico has another bad deal in him. If he wants to continue his “defense wins championships” rebuild, how about:

Blazers get: Derek Lively + Klay
Dallas gets: Matisse + Rob + picks

And we keep working to move Ayton.

I don’t believe Scoot is PG of the future. Ayton has to go, let Scoot go, and they will want a pick. Maybe we get Sabonis and a oick of theirs? leaves us with Grant, Simons, Williams III and Thybulle to trade for other parts and pieces. Clingan has promise but not ready for starting center duty…and Clingan with Sabonis can make a nice duo at times…
