Pretty sure he’s just dick waving trying to prove to people that he knows how to make a deal. I.e. pad his ego a bit before he dies after decades of embarrassment. Ironically this is even more embarrassing. Xi will win this one, the only question is how embarrassing this is going to end up.
I’m currently on a road trip to the Mississippi River and back. On the way we stopped in Abilene KS to visit the Eisenhower Museum and Presidential Library. What an incredible reminder of just how far the “Republican” Party has fallen…..poor Ike.
Trump is cutting off FEMA aid to all the Blue States...which contain most of our forested land. and are susceptible to regular droughts.
Ike was a Republican in the vein of moderate ideologies like Thomas Dewey, who barely lost to Truman in '48 and supported the New Deal policies of the Democrats and were much more internationally active than the isolationist conservative wing of the GOP. Ike would absolutely be a Democrat in today's political landscape.

It won't amount to anything probably. The president down there wouldn't meet with him. He met with the VP and asked why they are keeping Garcia, who has no criminal record and has not been charged with any crime. The answer: because Trump is paying them to. The Senator likely won't even get to meet with Garcia, if he is even still alive. He will just jump on a plane back later this evening probably. Good to see a Dem Senator doing something besides tweeting and sitting back. It will probably only end up being tant amount to a show.
