    Not sure where they go with him. I expected him to be a much better hitter. When Stanton comes back, I’d much rather have Rice in the lineup than watch Volpe perform like this.

    He's certainly been in a slump recently. But like I said before, we've been watching the same crap for several years now. We'll hit a lot of HRs and win a few games during the regular season, but when it comes to the postseason when you were facing much better pitching, we get exposed every year.

    Volpe wants to be a HR or bust guy. His on base percentage is putrid as are most of his numbers. You don’t wanna give up on a young guy, but his performance doesn’t warrant being in the lineup daily.

    We have witnessed this sorta thing many times, from our youngsters as well as 1st year FAs. They are beckoned by the "short porch" in RF, and wrongly fancy themselves as power HR hitters. If they had made the fences 30 feet further away we'd probably have a more rounded offense because the "HR of bust" mentality gets exposed every year in the PS when we face better pitching.
