Re: Campbell: "I feel like I am the future" <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Jason Campbell, surrounded by reporters, answered questions quietly and calmly. Walking by was Jon Jansen."There's the future of the team right there," Jansen said with a mischievous smile. "You're all talking to the future."Campbell heard him, and grinned.A moment later, a reporter asked Campbell if he considered himself "the future" of the team.Replied Campbell: "I feel like I am the future. I just have to continue to keep working and continue to be patient. I'm learning behind a great guy like Mark Brunell, and he does a great job of teaching. He plays the game relaxed and fun."The second-year quarterback's immediate future is to prepare for Saturday night's preseason game against the New York Jets.He is expected to see increased action after going 9-of-15 for 99 yards in the preseason opener against the Cincinnati Bengals last Sunday.Mark Brunell is expected to draw the starting assignment each preseason game. As to who will come in after Brunell, associate head coach-offense Al Saunders plans to rotate Campbell and veteran Todd Collins in that role through preseason.Last Sunday in Cincinnati, Collins came in second, following Brunell. Against the Jets, Campbell will come in second."I want to play and have fun," Campbell said. "I think a lot of guys are putting pressure on themselves, thinking they've got to make every play. I just want to go out there and play, let the game come to me. The guys around you will help make plays, too. You've got to trust them."Joe Gibbs commented earlier this week that Campbell seems to have "a calmness" about him this year."I know he said after the [Aug. 5 Redskins-Ravens] scrimmage that he was kind of tight when he started, but I haven't seen him look like that," Gibbs said. "He seems to be real focused. He's not breathing hard. I think his demeanor is a lot like Doug Williams. I'd turn around sometimes and Doug would be yawning on the sidelines. Jason, if anything, has a real smooth presence about him."Regarding his assessment of the team's quarterback situation, Gibbs said: "I think Jason could play right now, but I think we need to continue to work with him. Our situation is that Mark is our leader and he is the guy we hope plays the whole year."Todd and Jason are still rotating and we're taking a look at both of them. We like everything we see. We want to see them both play a bunch here in preseason and then we'll decide what we're going to do as start into the year."</div>
Re: Campbell: "I feel like I am the future" And what exactly is he going to say when put on the spot like that? I don't think im the future? He is going to say that regardless on if he thinks its true or not.
Re: Campbell: "I feel like I am the future" Do me favor and get out of the Skins forum (this is to everyone)... you guys are all jealous and can't say anything good about our team like we do with yours. Funny how not one Steelers, Panthers, or Seahawks fans bash on us... they're not jealous that's why. I have major respect for them too.

Guess What. We did that the year before you did in 2004.
Re: Campbell: "I feel like I am the future" Yes.Haha, ok. How come the teams better than us aren't jealous, and all the sucky teams are?Who cares what you did in 2004? Guess what? You suck now.
Re: Campbell: "I feel like I am the future" Campbell is our future starting QB, and if you look at our offensive setup, we are pretty much cramp packed with talent as far as our starters go... so when he finally gets put in, he's going to be the one to direct it, therefor he is the future of our team. We traded up to get him in the first round of last year's draft, of course he means a lot to our team and the future of our offense.

Who would have predicted that the Chicago Bears would be one of the best teams in the league last season before it actually happened? Just because We sucked in 2005 doesnt mean we are going to suck in 2006, and just because you did well in 2005 doesnt mean shit anymore, because at the end of the day, neither of our teams accomplished our goal to win a Championship. The only team that has bragging rights right now is Pittsburgh, because the other 31 teams failed to do what they did. That is the only team that I am jealous of, and that is because they have what I want my team to have and that's the Lombardi Trophy in their display case.

If you're not over .500 you've had a bad season. You should be worried more about how the Jets handled your defense last night. Now that's something to talk about!
Re: Campbell: "I feel like I am the future" It's preseason idiot. So when the Cowboys lose in preseason, I should tell you to be worried.

So when the Cowboys lose in preseason, I should tell you to be worried.</div>Dude what's up with the name calling. You have a bad habit of that! So as the idiot goes,First off, if you ever read anything I said about the Cowboys, you will know that I've never hyped them to nothing more than just as good as any other team. Look I'm not the one who's hyping the Cowboys up like you guys are about the Redskins. I'm not stupid or crazy enough to do that. I've coach long enough to know you don't do that. Because the reality is you have to play the game. If Dallas loses a preseason game, which they will then that's good with me because I'm not hyping Dallas to go to the Superbowl. But if they lose a preseason games the way the Redskins, of course I would be worried...Very worried! But not as worried as someone, who say...is hyping their team up for the Superbowl. But since the Redskins are being labeled as a so-called Superbowl contender, well you have to worry about your team. And don't give me anything about how Vanilla (like the Redskins players were saying after the game) the offense was. The fact is that every team team's offense and in most case defense are very Vanilla. But here's the thing. The Redskins are so-called Superbowl contenders. Your Vanilla should kill the Jet's Vanilla any day and time of the week. And not to mention they man handled your run defense. And your starters game up almost if not 200 yards. Don't sound like a Superbowl to me. But the REAL test is next Saturday. If you guys don't win the first half with your starters, you are in serious trouble! But again, this is preseason from what I've been told. So if there's no need to worry about preseason games than we shouldn't even play them, right?
Re: Campbell: "I feel like I am the future" Pre-season games are important because it shows an assessment of your team's depth, how far they can go against an opposing team with almost every guy on their roster...but look at the real game of NFL football when the regular season starts, you only have 11 starters on O and 11 on D, a lot of the guys that step on the field for pre-season games will never get a taste of action for another 16 games or so..I'm not worried about our starters one bit, but I am worried about our depth in certain positions, for the lack of strength on our depth chart is a major reason for our 2 losses so far.So starters, we're fine. Backups, just gotta hope for minimal injuries...

Re: Campbell: "I feel like I am the future" damn we have a hell of a defense... starters at least. I was at the game with Punisher and Karlos. we have really good backups, but they only play well when we have some starters in (which is what Greg Williams does in real games)plus its preseason, the worst the team is the, the harder theyll try to win.

Both times making the second round of the playoffs before being eliminated. The Jets have had a record over .500 6 Times in the Past Decade, making the playoffs 4 times. In those trips the Jets have reached the AFC Championship Game Once, The Second Round of the Playoffs 3 times, and had only one first round exit. But it is all a moot point, and rather pointless to argue, since neither of our teams have won a championship from those visits. I dont have any reason to bragging about any level of success, as there isnt much success to be found anyways in Jets history. My point was simply that In order for teams to be jealous of you, that you actually have to accomplish something first. Getting to the second round of the playoffs is done by 8 teams and exactly 25% of the league so that really isnt that great of an accomplishment in the grand scheme of things. If you win the Superbowl this year, then I will be jealous of the Redskins. Not until then.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>It's preseason idiot. It was the Redskins getting Dominated by the 'lowly New York Jets' in just about every aspect of the game, including the First-Teams that should be more of a cause for concern. :whistling:While Redskins fans shouldnt exactly be Panicing, It should be a cause for concern when Derrick Blaylock is making your First-Team Run Defense look Terrible and your First-Team Offense has yet to do ANYTHING with the ball in a preseason game.
