Yeah, I think the Bucks picks are just worth more than some of the picks that OKC/SAS/Houston have. I don't really want the Rockets picks. They have a good young core.
I wonder, instead of giving them back to Milwaukee if we look to move them this offseason in a completely separate trade. Now maybe that team loops back around to try for Giannis, but rather than a 3 teamer, we just go off on our own. Everyone else can also see the value those picks and swaps might hold. Especially looking at teams who expect to be good, a swap in '28 and '30 could be big for them. Like OKC, Houston, etc.
I wouldn't give up a pick for Smith... He's the definition of a role player. You can find equivalent players in FA.
Rockets own unprotected Phoenix picks. You'd want those 3rd team picks not the OKC SAS HOU own picks. All of them have great unprotected ones from other team like the Suns, Clippers, and Hawks. Although maybe SAS own pick would be worth a flyer with Wemby injury risk.
The picks are worth the most to Milwaukee as then they can tank and get the most value from the pick at the top of the lottery. If a different team owns the pick Milwaukee won't tank and the pick is unlikely to be as good.
I don't believe we can trade the 2029 Bucks pick. In the Avdija trade with the Wizards, we owe the 2nd best from our own pick, Boston's pick, and the Buck's pick. So at this point we can't trade any of those 3. Of course, we could try to re-negotiate the pick with the Wizards. However, that would have to be done first and there's no guaranttee that the Blazers/Wizards would come to a mutual agreeent.
Yeah I think we'd just trade the most favorable or least favorable of the three, we wouldn't try to renegotiate with the Wizards.
It could all be about how the agreement was written. If we send out that pick and get another one back, it might not violate the agreement. If it was literally written that the Wizards get the second best of our picks (no specification) then it doesn't matter if it's 2 or 3 picks. I can't imagine Joe would have boxed himself in like that.
Incorrect - we can trade either the best or worst 2029 pick. Now we can't trade exactly the Bucks pick only since Washington may own it. But if we give the Bucks the best of theirs, ours, Boston I'm sure they will prefer that over only their 2029 pick.
The bucks swaps/picks are some of the hottest draft commodities available imo. You guys are so quick to just hand em away for zero productive reason. One can go in a Sabonis trade. If you have other ideas on the table worth considering bring those. the picks are gold if you can see it
imho they're only worth trading after we're sure they're mediocre; multiple chances for high lotto picks is too valuable to pass up.
