I have a tendency to believe this. Talking about another #1 pick that should be a franchise player. I'd still love to see if it worked out but I still wonder why this conversation is even going. Ayton was a number one pick, He is obviously very talented but the Suns let him go and as we can see the Blazers might not keep him. There is a reason for that.

I have a feeling the board here will discuss plenty of trading options but Cronin will curve ball and trade nothing anyone here can predict..
Maybe open a a new trade predictions competition thread?
No need for calculators etc - just name one person who is currently not on the roster but is next season.. ;)

There will be a lot of top tier PFs on the market this off season..whether they will want to come to Portland is a big if but apparently KD wanted Chauncey to coach in Phoenix ..Jokic isn't happy Denver fired Malone and Giannis is going to sprint out of Milwaukee. Zion will probably be dangled and we know Jerami Grant and Rob Williams will be as well. Th Clippers will probably be sellers too. It's going to be a whirlwind but I'm hoping we come up with another Deni Avdija type player who's a lights out 3 pt shooter. Maybe Rupert and Scoot become that guy or our Remix rising star pt guard. We need snipers who don't miss free throws and can defend.

Zion has played in 214 games of 410. I wouldn't give up any first rounders for him but players sure. Maybe a few seconds.

I wouldn't give up Shaedon for Zion but I am interested in him and wouldn't mind the Bucks being a third team.

Doesn't make sense for NO either - they're not contending with Giannis.

I did think a Giannis Zion Blazers deal was possible but it would be if Zion goes to the Bucks and we get Giannis.

It’s not often all or nothing. It can take time and near misses. Look at the Nuggets. The Jokic/Murray/Malone core got eliminated from possibly making the playoffs by a Westbrook 3 in 2017. They lost a playoff spot to Minnesota on the last night of the season in 2018. Then lost Game 7 at home in 2nd round to us in 2019. Lost in WCF in 2020. Three years later, they won it all.

You’re so right. No one predicted Dame would end up in Milwaukee.

Yes. They had a superstar with a deepish roster around him. They were probably too good to avoid the playoffs once Jokic popped. Then needed to go through the seasoning process.

They also still have the best player in the NBA (in his prime) and aren't really much of a contender anymore. I bet they're wishing they'd dipped into the lottery once or twice more.

We don't have a superstar or really even that deep of a roster.

Comparing us to those nuggets treans seems like a real reach.

That's why I said avoid that situation if possible. Once again, if you're too good to avoid being a bubble team with a young roster then you're in a good spot.

    That wasn't us this season.

Zion’s abilities, skills, and talent are obvious. Unless it’s a trade involving 2 of Ayton, Grant, and Simons — no picks — then I’ve come back around to not trading for Zion. [It was pretty conditional before.]

I would rather trade for Zion than re-sign Ant or Ayton for $$$ better spent on others, even though Ayton is a good center. Ant has gravity on the court. They are real NBA players and starters for plenty of teams.
