Minnesota attorney general Keith Ellison spoke at an atheist conference even though he is an observant Muslim. He said he spoke there to support religious liberty and pluralism.

When Americans are asked "would you vote for a qualified ____ for7 president" the lowest yeses are for atheists.

Not explicitly an act of resistance but having fun and being outrageous are resistance to a regime that wants this country to resemble a cross between 1930s Germany and North Korea.

Saturday was World Naked Bicycle Day. I learned that when leaving place where I had lunch in San Francisco and witnessed a long line of men bicycling down Market Street wearing only helmets. Which have their uses but modesty isn't one of them.

Why I love going to San Francisco. Something will happen.

Fighting back works. Today Trump rescinded several very unpopular orders
Restored funding to Women's Health Initiative
Restored visas to international students whose visas had been revoked en masse
Rehired food safety scientists fired from FDA
Restored translation of emergency weather forecast into languages other than English
Stopped brain worm plan to create data base of people with autism

If you fight you sometimes win. If you surrender you always lose.

Of course he coupled backtracking with more horrible things. Completely eliminated Head Start and Meals on Wheels. Arrested a judge. Deported American citizens.

Thousands of people in Hungary are holding weekly protests every Tuesday. They began when Ohrban banned Pride parades. But Hungarians say it's part of generalized attack on freedom of assembly. Most demonstrators are young people who have known nothing else, he has been in power 15 years.

May Day rallies everywhere. Went to Hayward rally. Loud and well attended. A woman held a sign reading "honk if you're f'ing furious". My ears are still ringing. People are putting together plans to organize local Indivisible chapter. East Bay Indivisible is organized out of North Berkeley, that's an hour away. Not someplace we can get to weekly.

Economist and journalist Paul Krugman wrote a column from Netherlands where he is vacationing. Yesterday was Liberation Day in Netherlands, which means day they were liberated from Nazis by Canadian army. He said good to be in a country where everyone agrees Nazis are bad.
