The Blazers would have to give up Shaedon and probably Tou plus others, to even be in the discussion to acquire Giannis.
Not with a good GM. I remember how amazed I was in 2007 when the Celtics got KG and Ray Allen without giving up Pierce.
The Boston Celtics acquired both Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen in 2007, both through trades. They traded the fifth overall pick in the draft, along with Delonte West and Wally Szczerbiak, to the Seattle SuperSonics for Ray Allen and a second-round pick. A little later, they traded five players, two draft picks, and cash to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Kevin Garnett. Here's a more detailed breakdown: Ray Allen: . The Celtics, disappointed with landing the fifth pick in the 2007 draft lottery, traded that pick along with Delonte West and Wally Szczerbiak to the Seattle SuperSonics in exchange for Ray Allen a
It’s amazing. If they would’ve “won” Oden, they wouldn’t have made the deals and they wouldn’t have won the championship.
Giannis is being linked to both LA and NY teams and possibly Miami. Guess playing in Portland isn’t high on his list, I’m shocked. https://br.app.link/prFjvtyB9Sb
It’s a Howard Beck source telling him those are the teams he’s interested in and possibly Houston but he couldn’t remember if the source named them too. Could be all bullshit but I don’t think there’s any chance Giannis views us as a destination at 31 years old and wanting to compete for championships.
I think the main concerns Giannis would have with Portland is that we haven't made the playoffs in 5 years, as well as no star for him to team up with, not the size of our market. Would Giannis accept a trade to OKC or SAS? I guess we'll see but I wouldn't be surprised if he'd eventually be fine going there. Dame wanted to go to the Heat then was fine with the Bucks.
Yeah Lakers don't have enough. They can send 2031 or 2032 pick- then a swap the other year. They can also send out 2028+2030 swaps which going to the Bucks could actually be very useful on Milwaukee end since they are currently getting the worst of us and their picks. Clippers are even worse, only having 2031+2032 picks. Knicks aren't much better. Brooklyn and Miami are the teams to watch though - Brooklyn has a ton of picks. Miami can trade about 3 plus swaps. I just don't think Brooklyn has enough role players on the roster though. Houston makes a ton of sense though, Spurs, Thunder, Golden State too.
Thunder certainly do, maybe they could swap Chet for Portis plus a boatload of picks. Spurs have the rookie of the year and two lottery picks. Rockets have tons of young talent, Sengun is a 22 year old all-star, Amen likely worth more, plus many others that some teams might project to break out. Giannis is 30 with a game predicated on athleticism. He will get a big trade haul but it might not be an Anything Davis/Paul George historic one. Giannis price is one a number of teams are likely able to afford. The NY/LA/Miami teams might not be able to afford it though.
Crazy 3 team deal that gives Bucks their picks back plus picks from Pelicans. Doubt Giannis would want to go to Pelicans but you never know. Bucks probably want Scoot or Sharpe (I’d consider Scoot but not Sharpe).
