New York Jets - 27Washington Redskins - 14Positives Time Of Possession - Anytime you dominate the Time Of Possession you are putting yourself in a good position to win the Game, and that's exactly what we did winning it by over 15 minutes.Derrick Blaylock - He looked like a decent option at Runningback for the New York Jets. 10 Carries for 46 Yards against a very solid Washington Redskins Defense.Bryan Thomas - Had a sack and a terrific game at Outside Linebacker. He is finally looking like the player that we spent a First Round Draft pick on how many years ago. Brad Smith - 61 yard reverse for a Touchdown and a Screen Pass that he somehow got 10 yards on. The kid has got good vision and is elusive. There is a very good chance he could be a playmaker on this team sometime within the next few years.D'Brickashaw Ferguson, Nick Mangold - There were occasional times where they struggled, but they both laid down great blocks on Brad Smiths return for a Touchdown and showed why they are going to be wearing Green and White for a very long time. Leon Washington (The Returner) - 87 Yard Kick Return for a Touchdown in his only return.Justin Miller (The Returner) - 47 Yard Kick Return in his only return. Brooks Bollinger - Many people have him penciled in to be a cut, but he was rather impressive to me. He did an effective job of running the offense. Making plays with both his feet and his arm. Personally, I am a bigger fan of him then I am of Patrick Ramsey. Reggie Newhouse - Probably won't make the team, but what a touchdown catch he had from Clemens. Tui Alailefaleula - Earned the Backup Nose Tackle position tonight (and might make a run for the Starting Job). Very good job by him. Plus he has an awesome name, which always helps.David Barrett - Nice Interception, decent in Coverage.First and Second Team Defense - Stopped the Run, Stopped the Pass, Definately Played above average.NegativesInability to finish a drive - Drove the ball up well into their side of the field a few times and only managed to put it in the Endzone Once. I guess that will change with experiance but we'll see.Anthony Schlegel - Fell down to allow a Touchdown reception and had a Pass Interference. He seems very raw and not like the player we thought he was going to be. Cedric Houston - Yes he ran the ball 14 Times for 53 Yards, but he also fumbled the ball Twice. We cannot have our Runningbacks Fumbleing the ball away. Patrick Ramsey - Maybe I am being over-critical of him, but he really worries me. He looked very indecisive out there tonight and looked scared to throw the deep ball constantly checking down to shorter options. His passes weren't really accurate and the only reason he had a 66% completion Percentage was because his longest pass of the night was 9 Yards.Justin Miller (The Cornerback) - Can he cover anybody? Seemed like they were constantly throwing the ball his way and he kept allowing receptions. Justin McCareins - Seemed rather unmotavated to me, I have a feeling he wont be on the Jets roster come Sept 10th. Even if it is by an outright cut.Jets Third String Defense - I know they were playing a Prevent, but Todd Collins moved the ball WAY too efficently against us there at the end of the game for my tastes. Jets Tight Ends - Completely Invisible.Highlights (Provided by JoshSports10 @ JetsInsider.com)<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Putfile (Better Quality)- http://media.putfile.com/Game-Highlights--...-Redskins-81906YouTube (Worse quality)- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zAdqfDQS6LY<u>Guide</u>Begining- Justin Miller Return to midfield0:23 - Brad Smith TD Run1:02- Barret INT1:26- Leon Washington Return for a TD2:07- Bolly 20 Yrd Scramble2:37- Nugent 1st Field Goal3:50- Nugent 2nd Field Goal3:07- Houston 20 Yrd Shovel Pass3:34- Clemens TD pass Newhouse Recption4:19- Dada INT4:48- The End</div>Conclusion:This is a team that looked like it could go up there against the NFL's best and be rather competitive. The people who are saying we are going to be picking in the Top 5 of the draft are outright wrong IMO. I still have the team penciled in for a long 6-7 win season, but It'll at least be competitive games, which is something we lacked last season.

I'll watch the game tomorrow on NFL Network. Didn't get to catch it live, but the highlights looked sweet. I'll post my notes after I watch it tomorrow.

Although, I do think that D'Brick played very well last night. I keep a good eye on him and he was very impressive. After watching him the first half, I was thinking that you guys did the right thing. He is a beast! Very quick and uses his hand very well. The second half defense, I think Mangini was playing a few new things to see where his defensive back fields at. When Collins was quarterback, I can clearly tell that they were playing differently. And the second half, especially on the latter part of the second half, as a coach you tend to try some different stuff. At least that's how tend to do things in the college ranks. So that's what I'm thinking.Your absolutely right about Ramsey. I wouldn't cut Bollinger for Ramsey at all. Bollinger played like he wanted to keep his job. I think he's going to make it hard for the Jets to get rid of him. After that game, Ramsey, if I were head coach, would be the odd man out.As far as the offense not having the inability to complete a drive, all teams are going to do that. But the most important thing that Mangini is doing with a young team, is time of possession. And they did a GREAT job of that on a so-called good defense. And the running game was even better with the exception of those fumbles. So there are somethings to improve upon but there's also a lot of things you can hang your hat on. So I thinking the Jets were going to be as good as last night. I thought the Redskins would handle them pretty good but either it says two things: 1. The Jets are really good, or 2. The Redskins are not as good as we all thought. Again, I'm really only look at the first half because those were the heavy hitters on both side of the ball. And you guys did well...Adrop - here man, I was telling some of the coach here about this website, and was joking about hiring a new to be at least a coaches intern...but you'll have to move to Texas...haha

<u>1st Drive:</u>1st play. Patrick Ramsey turned the wrong way for the play-action fake, Adrian Jones and B.J. Askew missed blocks, Ramsey was sacked.3rd play. Jerricho Cotchery dodged two blockers but was swarmed, good moves though.Landell Betts isn't a great kick returner.Andre Dyson showed perfect coverage of Santana Moss, keeping up with him step for step, and not getting thrown by his double move.<u>2nd Drive:</u>1st play: D'Brickashaw blocked two people, opening a hole for Blaylock to get a nice 5 yard gain. 2nd play: Mangold and Kendall created a nice seam for Blaylock to get a 6 yard gain.3rd play: Adrian Jones and Brandon Moore got confused by 3 rushers coming at them and both blocked the same 1, allowing the pocket to collapse and the run to only get 1 yard.4th play: Jones made up for it, great downfield blocking by Adrian Jones, Nick Mangold, and D'Brickashaw Ferguson, all getting helmets on LB's.7th play: Cotchery fumbled, Taylor put his helmet right on the ball, great hit by Taylor.9th play: Ramsey completed a pass under pressure. Nice throw.12th play: Ramsey is HORRIBLE with the play-action fake. He felt the pressure and scrambled right into the defender in a panic.13th play: Mangold hiked the ball late. I say this because all 4 other linemen jumped offsides at the same time14th play: Archuletta blitzed, Chris Baker missed the pickup, and Ramsey again scrambled into the defender, rather than away from them.<u>Remaining 1st Half Notes:</u>Tim Dwight looked good as a punt returner, shaking two tackles before getting wrapped up and gaining quite a few yards. The Brad Smith reverse. Ramsey threw a good but unneeded block, D'Brickashaw Ferguson made that amazing downfield block, but without Pete Kendall's block of 2 players, it wouldn't have gotten there. Kendall and D'Brick each blocked two players downfield to get him in the end zone. I love our left side!Mike Nugent places a beautiful onside kick, but Rookie Eric Smith botched it, letting the Redskins recover.Barrett's INT was a nice little shoestring catch, but it was a terrible throw by Campbell. Threw off his back foot due to pressure by Thomas.I'm thinking the Jets don't need any more Kick/Punt returners. With Brad Smith, Tim Dwight, Leon Washington, and Justin Miller... we have 4 studs. I'm really disappointed in Patrick Ramsey and Adrian Jones. I'd rather neither be starters.I'm glad we didn't have to face Portis late in the 2nd quarter, we couldn't stop the run once Ellis and Von went out. Cross our fingers and hope they don?t' get hurt.Kerry Rhodes scared the shit out of David Patten. Patten could have made a catch but saw Rhodes coming to hit him as soon as he made the catch and chose instead to let the ball hit the ground and run out of bounds. Way to go David Patten!! LMAOHAHA it happened again! This time Derrick Strait scared David Patten into dropping a ball to avoid the hit!Bollinger knows how to scramble. Two straight plays of dodging tacklers and scrambling for good sized gains. Most of our 1st string O-line is out though, all but Adrian Jones and Brandon Moore.<u>2nd Half Notes:</u>Victor Hobson looked like a man possessed against the Redskins backups, lol.Leon Washington, Good hands and good moves. Plus seems to have a knack for falling forward at the end of a play.Houston showed strong hands by making a couple good catches on bad throws by Brooks Bollinger.Houston is criticized for having low YPC, but it's hard when you get hit 3 times in the backfield!Bollinger has a very good play-action fake. It's not Manning-esque, but it's worlds better than Ramsey's.Reggie Newhouse has thrown a couple great blocks. I like the kid, I know he makes a good catch for a TD too. Lets keep this guy. That fumble by Houston was the fault of Bollinger letting go of the ball before it was in Houston's gut.174 Rushing yards in the first 3 quarters. Not bad against such a "tough" defense. I honestly think our quadruple headed monster is a good one.Clemens made a perfect pass to Brad Smith, that should have been a TD. Morton from the Redskins had a pentalty called for "illegal contact" that prevents Smith from making the catch. Should have been a perfect pass and catch by the rookies.Houston made a great run, breaking 3 arm tackles. Then fumbled on the next play. The fumble wasn't really real. He should have been down by forward progress as 3 Redskins players were holding him up, not letting him go to the ground and finally tugged the ball out. There goes the Newhouse TD, good play by him.Schlegel got his ankles broke and gave up a TD.I'm happy that Dada made a great play and caught that ball. I'd love fr him to make our team, just for his family.

That's usually what 12th man means. The home-crowd. Or at least that's what I know it as.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Infamous DC @ Aug 20 2006, 04:57 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>exactly...</div>Oh, my bad...I read it wrong. I thought you said the 12th man had helped us, but I guess not after re-reading it. BTW, Your starting defense was not 'amazing'. You got dominated in the run game by the Jets Offensive Line and Derrick Blaylock, and while you were decent at pass coverage, Patrick Ramsey was the main problem there, he was indecisive and scared to throw the deep ball constantly checking down to high percenage short throws. Theres a reason why I doubt he will end up making the roster, and last nights game just confirmed that belief IMO. Drive 1 - 1-10-50 (14:53) P.Ramsey sacked at NYJ 42 for -8 yards (K.Wright).2-18-NYJ42 (14:21) P.Ramsey pass short right to L.Washington to NYJ 47 for 5 yards (K.Wright).3-13-NYJ47 (13:33) (Shotgun) P.Ramsey pass short left to J.Cotchery to 50 for 3 yards (C.Rogers).4-10-50 (12:59) B.Graham punts 15 yards to WAS 35, Center-J.Dearth, out of bounds.PENALTY on WAS-K.Campbell, Unnecessary Roughness, 15 yards, enforced at WAS 35.Your defense looked solid on this drive, and you got a sack, but that was mainly because Patrick Ramsey had held onto the ball for almost 5 seconds looking like a deer in headlights. You cant expect the offensive line to hold the Rush back like 5 whole seconds. The other 2 plays he checked down to short completions on a 2nd and 18 and a 3rd and 13. Great way to try and move the chains. Drove for a net 0 yards, but because Ramsey sucks more then your defense was great. Drive 2 - 1-10-NYJ22 (11:54) D.Blaylock left end to NYJ 27 for 5 yards (A.Carter).2-5-NYJ27 (11:18) D.Blaylock right tackle to NYJ 34 for 7 yards (M.Washington).1-10-NYJ34 (10:49) D.Blaylock left guard to NYJ 36 for 2 yards (W.Holdman; M.Washington).2-8-NYJ36 (10:16) D.Blaylock right guard to NYJ 49 for 13 yards (K.Wright, R.Doughty).1-10-NYJ49 (9:43) P.Ramsey pass short left to J.Cotchery to WAS 47 for 4 yards (P.Prioleau). WAS-C.Griffin was injured during the play. He is Out.2-6-WAS47 (9:12) D.Blaylock left tackle to WAS 45 for 2 yards (C.Killings).3-4-WAS45 (8:35) P.Ramsey pass short right to J.Cotchery to WAS 37 for 8 yards (S.Taylor). FUMBLES (S.Taylor), recovered by NYJ-L.Coles at WAS 35. L.Coles to WAS 35 for no gain (N.Broughton).1-10-WAS35 (7:40) P.Ramsey pass incomplete short right to L.Coles (K.Wright).2-10-WAS35 (7:36) P.Ramsey pass short right to L.Coles to WAS 26 for 9 yards (K.Wright) [L.Marshall].3-1-WAS26 (7:07) P.Ramsey up the middle to WAS 25 for 1 yard (A.Carter, W.Holdman). QB Sneak1-10-WAS25 (6:30) D.Blaylock left guard to WAS 22 for 3 yards (M.Washington; C.Killings).2-7-WAS22 (5:52) P.Ramsey pass incomplete short left [M.Washington].3-7-WAS22 (5:45) (Shotgun)PENALTY on NYJ-D.Ferguson, False Start, 5 yards, enforced at WAS 22 - No Play.3-12-WAS27 (5:45) (Shotgun) P.Ramsey sacked at WAS 32 for -5 yards (A.Archuleta).4-17-WAS32 (5:14) (Field Goal formation)PENALTY on NYJ-B.Graham, Delay of Game, 5 yards, enforced at WAS 32 - No Play.4-22-WAS37 (5:12) B.Graham punts 37 yards to end zone, Center-J.Dearth, Touchback.Derrick Blaylock had 32 yards rushing on 6 carries, The Jets offense moved the ball a full 50 yards up the field and well into field goal range until we had a stupid False Start Penalty from D'Brick and another Sack where Ramsey had plenty of time to make a decision and get rid of the ball, but instead looked like a Deer in Headlights. Moved well up into field goal range with a long 6 minute drive, but because of poor play on the Jets part, we ended up with no points. Very poor drive by your defense though IMO. It's not like they really made this 'great stop' to end our drive when we had stopped ourselves.Drive 3 - 1-10-NYJ10 (3:01) P.Ramsey pass short left to L.Coles pushed ob at NYJ 14 for 4 yards (A.Archuleta).2-6-NYJ14 (2:40) L.Washington right guard to NYJ 16 for 2 yards (W.Holdman; L.Marshall).3-4-NYJ16 (2:05) P.Ramsey pass incomplete short left to C.Baker.4-4-NYJ16 (2:00) B.Graham punts 55 yards to WAS 29, Center-J.Dearth. M.Espy to WAS 43 for 14 yards (B.Kassell).PENALTY on WAS-N.Broughton, Offensive Holding, 11 yards, enforced at WAS 29.Solid drive on the part of your defense, I'll give you that, but lets not forget that if it wasn't for a miscommunication between Baker and Ramsey the Jets would have completed that Third and 4 and kept that drive going. So who knows how that drive may have resulted in.....Drive 4 - 1-10-NYJ39 (13:59) B.Smith right end for 61 yards, TOUCHDOWN. Reverse from 29 Washington. You saw the play, great blocking by the Jets, the Redskins defense was fooled just enough to allow a long touchdown. 1 play, 61 yards, 12 Seconds. Touchdown.2 Solid Drives, 2 Poor Drives. Mediocre is a better word for what we saw.
