Unless, of course, we trade their unprotected pick to someone else. Which is possible. In which case, I would help them as much as possible so we don't regret it.

Short of landing Giannis, I wouldn't trade that pick. It might be our last chance to take the next leap when the time comes.

In that case, just keep the picks. All we have to do is nothing.

I think there are a few more exceptions than just Giannis, but I essentially agree with you.

If we've traded away the picks, why would we care how fast Milwaukee rebuilds?

it's 3 full years till that partially encumbered 2028 swap; 4 years till the 2029 pick; 5 years till the 2nd swap

is that a long time in the tenure of an NBA GM? If it's true that the winning streak the Blazers had altered the thinking of the front office, I'd imagine that same front office would tend to look at those Milwaukee assets more as trade leverage than as banked assets to be used when due. Cronin has already shown a willingness to trade picks in that period with the Avdija trade

I sure hope he sets a high price if he leverages those picks and swaps....and possibly this year's pick. But I do think the odds have increased the Blazers move them for what they view as an upgrade

That 2029 Celtics pick isn’t looking too bad right about now.

maybe...but the Celtics haven't been prone to down cycles lately. They've been in the playoffs 17 of the last 18 seasons and made it out of the 1st round 12 times. Tatum, Brown, and White are all signed thru the 2028-29 season. A lot can happen in 4 seasons though

Gotcha I keep seeing people wanting to jump
Into the Giannis deal with the swaps and not be the team getting Giannis lol. Your thought process is acceptable

Pro tip: Learn to spell "too" and your perceived sophistication and intelligence will reach much higher levels!! You said "to" in place of "too" in the following post, too. Oh! Look! I just did it! See! It's not hard! You press the "O" key one more time!

Sometimes people use talk n text to post. It doesn’t differentiate between To, two, too, or tu very well. Not to mention the actual number 2.

It's funny how these articles are coming out with the premises that Giannis can basically pick his destination as though he is a free agent and all 30 teams have max cap room. These reports must just be a bunch of leaks from Giannis agent and others in his inner circle.

Nobody talked about the Raptors trading for Kawhi, or Paul George to the Clippers, or Mitchell to the Cavs, or Dame to the Bucks, Luka to the Lakers, etc. Giannis is signed until 2028 so the Bucks can just send him wherever they get the best trade package. Any team trading for Giannis is going to be trying to win now so once he is traded wherever he'll contribute fine just as all those other guys ultimately did.

Yeah, I thought it was intersting that Shams was saying this is Giannis's first time considering leaving the Bucks because reports were pretty clear before the trade that brought Holiday over from the Pels that he was thinking about asking out. I think the difference is that this time they just don't seem to have the assets to get more competitive.

    Tatum with possible Achilles tear.

That pick the Wizards got from us might be looking even better for them.
