I didn’t say you couldn’t be happy……. I’m just asking WHY you are happy. You have NO clue who is buying this team.
Phil Knight is 87. Doesn't mean he's dying soon, but at that age you usually don't have a lot of time left.
Phil Knight wanted something he couldn't have. Now that he could get it he doesn't want it anymore. Punk
Glass half full vs glass half empty. and realistically that’s not even great analogy bc the odds of it being bad are pretty low we don’t have any idea who is buying the team, correct the odds of it being someone who moves the team (based on recent history) are pretty low, so the net positive outcome in my estimation is more likely than the nuclear option of the team being moved which is practically the only negative outcome (as it would be a true feat to be a worse owner than the current situation). so although I’m not OP, I’ll choose to be happy until proven otherwise
Speaking of PA's Yacht. Check out his old yacht he sold years ago. You can rent it for $2,200,000 for a week. https://www.burgessyachts.com/cn/charter-a-yacht/yachts-for-charter/octopus-00006307
How much are the Blazers worth? 3 billion-$3.5 billion maybe? So, they will do a bidding war like Boston did. Do you guys think it will sell for more? Wonder how many bidders the team will get? How long did Boston's sell take? I know it's still ongoing. I mean how long did it take for all the bids to be put in and then for the team to announce the winning bid?
The Celtics previous ownership announced their intent to sell in July of last year and finalized the deal (meaning they accepted) in March of this year. So 8 months.
I don't think any two situations like this are exactly alike. I think we could know in a few weeks and then again thinking about how long this has been drawn out in terms of the seeming immediacy in Paul Allen's will maybe it drags on until summer 2026 or longer. It is the best comp we have but I don't know how meaningful that is.
Do you guys think the negatives of the franchise (being a small market, not a destination for big name free agents, our terrible luck, etc) will effect potential bidders desire to buy the team?
