I have a feeling it's going to be a long process. I just hope we get an owner who wants to win. Though Jody kind of caught the wanting to win bug, her and Vulcans initiative seems more based on getting the cap under control and going ground level to leave things in a better place for a potential buyer.

Do we want the sale to be quick or is it better that it's drawn out? We don't want it to be arduous of course, but maybe if it's drawn out a bit, it means due dillegence is being followed and we get a better owner for it.

Now that Dirk has publicly stated he's done with the Mavs and Cuban is pissed at the Mavs ownership, I'd love to see them put together a bid for the Blazers..Cuban gives a shit about his team and his players...would be a great owner. Understands how to build a champion.

I don't think a longer process would mean a better new owner. I just don't see how the two coincide. I don't think Jodie or Bert will be doing due diligence, they'll just take the most money. In that way, I hope someone who really wants our team contacts them in the next couple of days and blows their doors off with an offer at around 3.8B that they don't even have to think about. I would love a new owner who is extremely motivated to own the team as soon as possible.

When you look at the beginning and ending amount over 23+ years it seems insane. But that return you list is 13.0% per year. The stock market has averaged 10.4% since 1957... so its 2.6% above the stock market. So looks very different depending on how you frame it.

Not the deepest pockets anymore with an estimated 5.7B net worth. I sure would love him as an owner though, maybe he could own a 51% controlling interest and he has the connections to raise the rest from other billionaires he'd like to be in business with. What I'm really hoping for (keeping Cuban in mind) is an owner with his enthusiasm for our team. I also hope whoever it is trusts their ability to hire the right basketball minds enough to let either our current front office or a new GM and staff have a helluva lot more autonomy than what Joe described has been going on with Bert.

Being a smaller market might lower the price. If it was the Warriors/Knicks/Lakers it might even go to 7/8+ billion. Blazers aren't going to get close to that.

I think there will be plenty of bidders, heck might even be more bidders as some groups might not be able to afford $6 billion+ bid for the Celtics but can just barely get to a $3.5-4.5 billion bid.

I can't wait until the day we no longer hear the words "Vulcan" or "Kolde" with the Blazers.

Ideally its one of the best owners and quick.

I do think the trust was slick in timing it right now. All 29 owners are going to push for a great deal since it will be the most recent comp for expansion fee. Other years the 29 owners sure would always like higher value but in general with the Blazers they really just wouldn't care.

I don't know 2.6% is a pretty hefty jump up when we're getting into growth on that scale.

All the reasons Cuban gave of wanting to sell his team, not wanting to deal with real estate, not wanting his kids to have to manage it as he ages, are still right there. I just see zero chance he is interested in leading a bid. He'd also have to sell 100% of his Dallas shares. Dirk is totally irrelevant. Drexler, Porter, Buck, Sabas, Sheed would be more relevant not that any of them matter either.

Well sure - but if you say I invested in something that earned 2.6% over the stock market nobody bats an eye.

If you say I turned 360 into 6,000 it sounds way more impressive.

Yeah I think ultimately the trust just takes the most money and nobody cares anything about the buyer. Anybody who can get $4 billion cash together is going to have someone that can meet whatever "due diligence" is needed. Alex Rodrigues easily passed all the due diligence.

Only exception is if there is something specific in the Allen trust about the buyer needing to guarantee the team stays in Portland. Or some other type of restrictive language that has not been reported. I'd tend to think the trust does not have that in place but maybe there is a chance Paul put something in there.

Wonder if Mark Cuban wants back in... I'd love to have him as an owner.

I find it funny some fans will not call them out but are like -- We do not want Phil Knight anyways -- fuck him

This is like if you have a crush on a celeb ex. Sydney Sweeney and she comes out and says nope sorry not interested and you turn around and say she is a ugly bitch and she can pound sand.

I understand why he changed his mind BUT also I think there might be some bad blood between someone at "Vulcan" and Knight so I do not think they would sell to him anyways.

    ALSO

Let's say he changes his mind or let's pretend he did not come out denouncing his interest and then bought them . Those same fans would be running around there home cheering and going .. Hell yeah .. I am tired fair weather fans who talk out of both sides of there ass.

While I would be happy with Cuban, he sold the Mavs because he lost so much money. Why would by another team?
