You think in terms of the Blazers and Phil Knight that Phil Knight is like some normal dude and our Blazers are like Sydnee Sweeney??? I mean do you really want to go with that? Phil Knight who made Nike out of nothing in Oregon and is worth in the neighborhood of 30B is the average dude and our franchise which has been languishing without true ownership for almost 7 years and is the 22nd most valuable out of 30 NBA franchises at 3.65B is somehow a Hollywood star that the average dude is trying to get with. Something seems really really ill conceived about this metaphor. You're coming off like the child of a very attractive but still average woman who was being pursued by a filthy rich celebrity that you really wanted to be your new daddy. The celebrity proposed, your mom played hard to get, the celebrity lost interest immediately and now you're talking shit about the celebrity who has moved on and didn't end up being the dad you'd hoped for.
Where did you hear he sold it because he lost money? I heard he didn't know anything about real estate (next big phase for most NBA franchises) and he didn't want his kids to deal with criticism if they took over. I'm sure the phat check he got helped too.
Not me. I don't want someone that old buying the team for us to end up in the same situation with a trust as we have been the last 5 years.
Cuban as an owner would fucking do amazing here. You know he cares, and he fits the climate of Portland really well not to mention his political leanings skew more in favor of Portland too. It'll never happen, but I'd become a fan again if we had an ownership again. Cause whatever this is the last 4 years was fucking awful and it started with the ownership.
After Silver admitting a couple times that relocating the Sonics was one of the biggest mistakes in NBA history, I don’t think they would try it again with another team. That would be like solving a problem while creating another problem.
Yeah every time he talks about expansion he reiterates that he won't ever be looking to relocate any of the league's historic franchises and that usually does lead to him talking about the Sonics. I don't know how I'd feel about that if I was OKC or NOLA but it sure makes me feel good being here.
I do think anybody is confirmed yet. But a lot of people are setting themselves up to be the Dem savior...
1. Cuban still owns part of the Mavs, so no. 2. It's going to be an auction, so it will take as long as it takes.
He said it in an interview. He said he sold the team because in all the years he owned it he made money like one of those years.
He's full of shit. Despite that he made over 3 billion in profit and the team was making a LOT of profit just in the last few years he owned the team. He saw an opportunity to make 3+ Billion, and wanted to come off like he was barely making ends meet, instead of just coming off as someone who only wanted the money.
